So posted a couple weeks ago about a check engine light. Turns out my 2026 outback touring XT at 2K miles has some debris in the engine and Subaru doesn’t know what the problem really is yet. They will be tearing down the engine and potentially replacing it. I was advised to create a ticket with SOA for a buyback case since the dealer can’t change the paperwork or put me in a new car. Not really upset with the dealer as it’s not their fault and SOA is working with them to figure out what went wrong in manufacturing.

Does anyone here have experience with a buyback or working with SOA on this that could give me any advice?

Got a check engine today at 2k miles. Subaru dealer read the code and shows a “Variable Valve Timing Issue” on my 2026 touring XT. Curious if anyone else has experienced this or have any suggestions on what I should expect.

The dealer can’t finish diagnosing until Monday but I haven’t heard of this on an issue in other outbacks.
