Oil consumption

So took my Ranger to the mechanic for oil leak. He said he put it on the lift and left it in drive for three hours and couldn’t find an oil leak. So he believes the motor is consuming oil and it exits out the tailpipe.

He said he believes it could be from valve seats or bad rings. The truck starts and runs pretty well. So I am considering just driving it with the problem and keep topping up the oil every so often. I don’t put a lot of miles on it maybe 4-5k a year.

We are in the process of building a house right now. I am designing the house from the ground up. So maybe it’s not worth it to do anything right now. Thoughts?

I also have a noticeable clunk when going from drive to reverse. Sometimes it’s not bad other times I worry the driveshaft will snap. Mechanic said it’s excessive play in the rear end. Another problem I plan to address eventually. Has anyone rebuilt the rear and or replaced with a reman unit? I feel like that’s something I can do myself as it’s not worth the cost to have mechanic do it. I am pretty handy and have good mechanics skills. I have done head gasket before. Usually I prefer to have mechanic do it, but sometimes cost outweighs benefit.

Be very careful buying into the current market

There is an awful lot of speculation going on in the market right now. I would be very careful buying almost anything. Personally I am literally just stacking cash in SGOV or CLOI. What we are seeing now doesn't make any sense to me. The broad market buying frenzy is not driven by fundamentals like strong earnings. It's driven by speculation, and margin buying. This can make for a very very fast and steep decline. When it happens too it's going to be a broad selloff. There won't be any shelter to be had. Leverage is at very dangerous levels, and rates for leverage are only partially determined by FOMC rates. Most of the time it follows the FOMC, but it also works on arbitrage off bond rates which have been climbing steadily. The 10 year bond rate is just under the 5 year high. When the risk free rate is closing in on 5% it's dangerous. It's a very real scenario we could see a credit crunch if rates don't pullback. If the FOMC hikes at the September meeting or something triggers a bond selloff sooner it could get very ugly very quickly. Caveat Emptor.

2003 XLT Extended cab window kit

Has anyone replaced their driver side window bushing with the ones from the Dorman Kit? My window pitches forward slightly when you try to roll it up. This creates a spot at the back top of the window where it doesn't seal, and whistles like crazy when going down the highway.

Front seat swap

Has anyone done a front seat swap? I really like my truck, and am interested in doing some light restoration to it. The front driver seat is pretty worn out. Two owners ago was a smoker and there are burn holes in several spots on driver’s seat. Also was interested in building a better arm rest slash center console.

Don’t sleep on AU or Crypto

Don’t sleep on Gold, BTC, or ETH. Gold has had a nice pullback from the craze of last year. Currently down about 18% off the ATH. That doesn’t mean that price speculation won’t pick back up. Many of the speculators got slapped 3rd quarter into the end of 4th quarter last year. There was a mini bubble as prices were only supported by the fools. Prices have since moderated, and now might be the time to think about picking up some IAUI, or KGLD. Inflation is a lot stronger than people seem to be understanding. The memers shifted to DRAM, and then to SPCX. It’s entirely possible they shift back to gold as overbought markets get sold. Also don’t sleep on BTC, and ETH. There had been a lot of price consolidation in crypto, and right now it’s off about 60-70% from the ATH. This is typically the spot where you can pickup BTCI, and NEHI on the cheap. They have targeted distribution rates of 24%, and 33% respectively.

There are a handful of securities that I look to buy on a regular basis. I usually look for what is the most attractive from a price standpoint. Crypto, Gold/silver, and believe it or not oil are starting to look tasty. BDCs are also still a decent price proposition. Specifically I buy MAIN. For oil/utilities I buy MDST, MLPD, MLPI, and PEO. The first three cover the transportation and storage while PEO is literally the raw producers. Oil is cyclical, but if WTI, and Brent get back into the 60’s again that indicates a nice entry point. No matter how bad things get economically oil is universally still needed.

The most important number on that 401k, IRA, and brokerage statement isn’t the price it’s the number of shares. The more shares you own the more divvys you get!

FULL DISCLOSURE: I own positions in all of the symbols mentioned. This is what I do, and not necessarily what you should do. This is provided for informational purposes only.

Customer who plays games

I just finished with a delivery. Waited at least 15 minutes more than I should’ve. I get to the destination and it’s an apartment. Of course the apartment number is not listed in the app. I sent the customer a message asking for the apartment number and no response. Called them twice and they sent it right to voicemail so I marked the customer is not responsive. Put the food on the ground and drove away of course right after that, I get two or three phone calls right in a row then all of a sudden they wanna talk gotta love it.

Edit for grammar

There is a guy who orders multiple orders at the same time. Then he has two garage doors, and he likes to sit in between the cars on the floor in the dark. He also puts the garage doors up halfway to waist level. Really bizarre. Personally I carry a gun so IDGAF. The last time there was a girl who arrived right after me, and I warned her that he’d be sitting there. Creeper for sure.
