The shade is LITERALLY right there…

She’s definitely solar powered, lol. She’ll lay out in the sun until she’s basically overheated, & then drag herself into the shade.

Yes, she’s got water, & is able to go inside any time.

Labs are weird.

Wind chimes - love them or hate them?

It occurred to me while *trying* to enjoy some quiet time on our deck that 2 of our neighbors have wind chimes, & they’re so damned annoying.

I’ve always hated them, even though my mother loved them, and I wonder what the percentage of people on our generation is who love them vs hate them vs completely indifferent.

Tell me your favorite memories of your mother, & I’ll try to share some of mine

As I sit here watching my mother succumb to her 3rd encounter with cancer, I’m reminded of so many memories of spending time with her.

She taught me so much that I doubt I could ever articulate, from learning how to help care for my younger siblings, to taking care of myself & others, to seeing what I can contribute to the world.

These next few days are going to be difficult, especially with my family dynamics, but I know that she’s proud of the mother she was, & I’m proud that she was mine.

Sign north of FdL: “King Trump 2028”

As I was driving north on I-41 last weekend, right around County N, I saw what I assume was a “Vote Trump 2024” sign, but someone had pasted a “King” over the “Vote” portion, and an “8” over the “4” portion.

Having lived in FdL for over a decade (a mistake I wish I could rectify), I understand that the area is heavily conservative, but holy shit, how morally deficient is the person whose sign this is?
