What was your weirdest moment last season?

Now that the new season has begun/is soon to begin for all of us, I figured I'd throw this one out there.

What was your weirdest moment from the season just gone? Any weird calls or situations?

Last season was my first as a referee. So i had lots of firsts. First Red Card, first hydration breaks, first abuse.

My weirdest moment by far was near the end of last season. U14 game. Competitive league, but a lower division. So its full pitch, full size goals etc, but the standard isn't fantastic by any means.

Now before this game I had never ever given an IFK inside the box. Couldn't really see it ever happening at this level. Well this game I had not one, but TWO IFK's inside the box. Both sides goalkeepers both picked up the ball from a back pass on separate occasions.

Really just showed me that you really never know what you're gonna get. Looking forward to seeing what the new season brings

What are your BFV pet peeves?

For context. I'm not necessarily talking about the game itself. I'm talking about the players. What are some things that players do/don't do that drives you mental?

  1. For me, I main medic (I'm pretty terrible and the only way for me to score any decent points is to channel my inner Desmond Doss and just go balls to the wall reviving people). But my ultimate pet peeve is when teammates go down and hold on looking for a revive - which I'll gladly oblige. However they fail to ping the enemy thats holed up like a little rat in the corner, waiting for a nice unsuspecting medic like me to scamper in. Please for the love of christ, if you go down and want a res, ping any nearby enemies. Especially the one that killed you.

~

  1. People that don't use quick chat to thank their medics for a revive. Petty af? Absolutely. Will I still throw caution to the wind to get you back up? Sure will. Do I think less of you if you don't say thanks though? You bet.

~

  1. Support players that don't repair tanks. Please mate. My tank is sending up smoke signals here. I love that you're guarding an uncontested objective with your LMG, but please repair me.

~

  1. Pilots that exclusively fly and nothing else. Really. They'll just sit in the spawn screen until a plane opens up. And when a non plane map comes up they're gone. You're a muppet mate. Kudos though to the ones that can do well on the ground too though.

~

  1. Level 500 medics that don't revive and just run around with the ZK farming kills with infinite health. Again, you're a muppet mate.

What else really does your head in?

Is there any better feeling than killing that one sweaty pilot thats dominating the lobby and watching him lose his head about it?

I'm a regular on Xbox EU servers. I know the sweaty pilots to look out for. Recently I've stopped using the AA guns as much because you're a sitting duck, and instead tried running the flieger and poking my head up at the most random spots of the map. I've stopped some of the most notorious Xbox pilots from going on their little streaks.

But the reactions I get sustain me. Private messages giving me abuse for killing them, switching to my team to try and grief me, targeting me solely. And my personal favourite - One notable pilot (who I won't name because I just know he searches his gamertag to see if anyone has posted about him) who I killed MONTHS ago, who now taunts me anytime he kills me, months afterwards. This guy doesn't taunt other players either. So I must've really got into his head.

I dont care if I go negative with my K/D. I just love picking these guys out of the sky from my little nooks and crannies on every map.

I've played BFV for many years now, and only just yesterday realised there's a memorial plaque on Wake Island...

Not really sure how I never noticed this. Nice touch from the devs though.

Why in God's name are people so defensive when they're clearly in the wrong?

Was out last night in a bar in the city. Got there around 830pm. Grabbed a stool at a table near the bar that had a nice view of the screen for the England match. Pub gets busy and there's a good atmosphere.

Couple minutes before kick-off a group of 5 come in (2 couples and another person) and stand around in front of me. No biggie, I can still see the TV. I need to crane my neck a few times but nothing crazy. Around halfway through the first half they start standing directly in front of me. Completely blocking my view. Annoying but it's nearly half time so I let it go.

Second half kicks off and they're still at it. So i politely and calmly, but firmly ask them to move, as they're blocking my view and the views of people behind me. They agree and move, but one of them sarcastically asks if I have enough room now.

Throughout the 2nd half the woman I asked to move is constantly throwing me dirty looks and making a big show of making sure shes not blocking me everytime she leans over to talk to her friends.

Didn't bother me in the least. But what does bother me is the reluctance to just put the hands up, own it, apologise and move over a bit. If you're clearly in the wrong, you're in the wrong. Just own it and move on.

God forbid you actually speak up for yourself. Anyway, twas a poor match. But England deserved the win if we're being honest

PSA: If you dominate a server by sweating your ass off in a plane, then leave, the second a non-plane map comes up in the rotation...

You have no balls and you're clearly terrified at the prospect of a 50/50 fight.

Why are so many (not all) van drivers such gobshites on Irish roads?

Why are so many (not all) van drivers such gobshites on the road?

I'm on my N plates about 6 or 7 months now. Very confident driver. No issues driving. But I constantly find that van drivers tend to be absolute shite hawks on the road.

For example, driving home yesterday morning, the road into my village is a 50 km/h limit. There's always people running, walking and cycling on it and alongside it. Many people tear along at 60+. I'm going along at 50 and this van comes flying up behind me. I notice him in my rear view but continue along happily.

Next thing, this muppet momentarily floors it and drives inches behind me in an attempt to scare me obviously or get me to speed up. He does this 2 or 3 times along the road. Genuinely, if I'd needed to stop suddenly he was gonna go straight into the back of me. After his little tantrum doing this he turns off into a business park maybe 2 minutes down the road behind me. Absolute brain dead behaviour.

Its not the first time I've bad issues with vans on the road. I know its not all van drivers, but goddamn, its almost always a van driver. I've had more than one tailgating the fuck out of me whilst I'm driving the limit, or going for dangerous overtakes on me in senseless areas.

Some of you van drivers are absolute menaces man. Sound to the ones that drive properly though
