I am raising $1,500 to obtain critical public records needed for an investigation into government surveillance technology and its use in our community.
These records are not being requested simply out of curiosity. They are needed to determine what surveillance equipment is being used, what information it can collect, how it is configured, who has access to the information, how long information is retained, and whether the system is capable of capturing activity inside areas where residents have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Why These Records Matter
The public has a right to understand how government surveillance systems operate and how taxpayer-funded technology is being used.
The requested records may include technical documentation, contracts, policies, system capabilities, access information, configuration information, and other records necessary to establish the facts.
At this stage, I am not asking anyone to accept an allegation as proven. The purpose of this investigation is to obtain the underlying evidence and determine what the records actually show.
