I ran for commission and lost! AM(almost)A

My name is Rick Stanziale, and I ran for District 5 Commissioner. Disappointed, and somewhat surprised, at the results.

I'll be here off and on over the next 24 hours and will do my best to answer each and every question.

Mods, if you need proof, let me know.

The time has come…

I posted a while back about getting laid off, well folks July 1st I will no longer be employed. I got a lot of responses the last time. Thanks for the advice and pointers. I work in the supply chain field in management and supervisory roles. I am also looking into changing fields. If anyone needs someone who’s dedicated, a quick learner and eager to work hit me up! I also like to have fun while at work, and make work as enjoyable as possible. Life is already hard enough.

Ya boy made the Flagpole cover!

Our Rhino Iguana, Ron, is featured on the cover of the Flagpole Pets edition! Some of you may remember that he escaped his enclosure last year and after 72 hours another awesome Redditor called me when they saw him by the side of the road. I'm happy to report that he was found and has been living his best life since!

I’m kinda sad

Ya know, at first I found the Millsap ads kinda annoying, but the more I saw them the more I started to like them (in a why would someone think this is a good way to run for Public office). Congratulations to Ryan Millsap for your loss. May your AI ads never be forgotten

Clarke County Jane Doe identified as Rosalinda Gurley

https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Rosalinda_Gurley

https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/statham-woman-identified-athens-atlanta-highway-death.amp

I was going through my camera roll looking at potential matches and when I went to look at this Jane Doe, she had been identified on April 24, 2026! Exciting and simultaneously sad. She ended up being 24 yrs older than their age estimation.

Trash question

I’m going out of town for 3 weeks on Sunday and my trash/recycling pick up is on Wednesday. My cans will be full and I will definitely need them to be emptied. Is it okay to put them in my front yard before I leave (where they always pick them up) and not bring them in until I get home?

Delta Resuming Mainline Service; Bringing Bigger Planes to Columbus Airport

Yesterday, Delta Airlines announced that they are bringing mainline service back to Columbus Airport and bringing larger, more comfortable Boeing 717's with it!

Starting on June 12th, Friday and Saturday mid-day flights will switch over from Delta Connection service with CRJ-900s to Delta Airlines mainline service with Boeing 717s. Expect larger aircraft, better seating, bigger overhead bins, more amenities, and a smoother ride.

If you are like me and like to fly out of Columbus when connecting to other destinations, you know that the CRJ fleet is a little dated and lacks amenities so this is a very welcome announcement.

This is a great first step in making Columbus Airport a more utilized and capable airport. So lets pack these flights so Delta Airlines sees the interest and takes over more flights with better aircraft. Not to mention, packing these flights is one of the best ways to show Columbus Airport supports more destinations to low cost carriers like Allegiant and Breeze.

Some maps of last night’s mayoral race

Hi all. Whipped up some maps this morning to get a better sense of the dynamics in the mayor’s race last night and get a better sense of the upcoming runoff. Thought I’d share them here for the good of the order.

Map one shows the percent of each precinct’s vote won by each candidate. Map two shows the percent of each candidate’s total vote that was in each precinct. Map three shows who won a plurality or majority in each precinct as well as the margin by which they won over the next best candidate.

Overall, a pretty strong showing for Denson, with him winning most precincts and absolutely dominating in Normaltown, Downtown, and several East Side precincts. Gantt did very well in the North side and Inner East Side, while Dexter put up his best numbers around Five Points, the far West, and several East Side areas. Mara did shockingly well in Winterville, with almost a quarter of her vote coming out of there and another solid bit from Bogart/the far west.

Again, these were pretty ad hoc, so apologies that they are a touch unpolished. Hope they help folks better understand last night’s race!

Can anyone recommend a detail-oriented trim carpenter for crown moulding installation?

I need crown mould installed in one room and am hoping to find someone who may have availability fairly soon. I am looking for someone who does careful finish work, especially with corners and clean seams.

Thanks very much for any recommendations.

Speciality counseling services?

Hi party people,

I'm a bipolar townie struggling to find good mental health services. I have a great med-management and social services team, but I haven't had any luck finding bipolar-specific specialized therapy. I have already sought help to find this resource from multiple organizations in town without success.

I am looking for a provider with experience or knowledge of IPSRT (interpersonal social rythmn therapy). Most therapists in Athens have something to the effect of "we all need a little support with CBT sometimes!" which is awesome for SSRI takers, not great for antipsychotic takers 😅 Honestly, any provider with proven experience w/ bipolar care sounds great at this point.

Anybody know a great therapist for bipolar folks in the area? I'm willing to drive to Atlanta for good care. Sliding scale options would be helpful as I am uninsured and can only work part time, but if I gotta pay to get the care I need, it is what it is.

Advantage is not an option and I will not be seeking their services from any level 👍
