I had the rare opportunity to shoot the official painted prototype at a professional studio about 6 months ago. Now that the final production version has arrived, here is my updated take.

The Sculpt & Presence Amakuni completely nailed it. It brilliantly translates the vibrant 2D game illustration energy into a powerful 3D presence. The subtle torso twist and forward lean give her an incredible, almost overwhelming silhouette from the side.

The Hidden "Ab" Detail Out of the box, the skin shader has a very translucent quality, which actually makes the subtle muscle definition hard to see under normal room lighting. However, once you hit it with professional studio lighting, the gorgeous ab sculpt (the perfect blend of softness and muscle) completely pops.

A Crucial Handling Note The bikini strap dynamic pose is a fixed hard sculpt, not flexible PVC/rubber. It can hook onto her finger, but the tolerance is extremely tight. Take it very slow—forcing it will absolutely risk breakage.

The Verdict From the beautifully clear sheer jacket to the impeccable quality on Morgan (the parrot) and the crab on the base, this is easily a Tier-1 release from Amakuni. (Bonus: Included a quick two-shot with Marine Sencho at the end, since their concept overlap is just too perfect!)

Just finished shooting and editing the Gurren Lagann Yoko figure.

To be honest, this was one of those figures I kept adding to my cart and removing several times because of the price — but I finally pulled the trigger on it.

No regrets at all. PROOF really knocked it out of the park with this one. The balance between the massive ponytail and the oversized rifle is just perfect. Since the TRIGGER staff drew a brand new illustration specifically for this piece, the essence of the character really comes through beautifully.
