I adore how lovecraft writes

Cthulhu mythos has many beings that are powerful beyond comprehension and lovecaft makes them so interesting in a way that still holds up today and forever will. it doesn't end there, ALL of his characters are well written. whether its a mighty magician, a cosmic horror, a normal human, or whatever else, they are all masterfully crafted. the fictional reality itself is also fittingly dark and depressing and terrifying. he was ahead of his time and is the foundation for a lot of the fiction we have nowadays (and will have in the future) Thank you hp lovecraft.

The wikis arent fact

I dislike when people take what the power scaling wikis say as canon fact. I prefer to make my own interpretation. The original author is the only one who can say for sure how powerful his characters are, not versus battles wiki or anything else. in summary: only what is made by the authors is canon fact, we should make what we think based on that.

We can’t know what the most powerful being in Cthulhu mythos is (Lovecraft writings only)

it’s either yog sothoth or azathoth (there is no other being in the mythos even close to their level of power unless you theorize that both yog and azathoth are parts of a supreme being), but we can’t comprehend which of them is the more powerful. it’s like comparing the nucleus and origins of everything to everything itself. both beings are too far beyond comprehension to know which one wins. a fight between them may not even be possible. personally, i think azathoth wins, but what I think is like an ant trying to undertand quantum physics.

Is the king in yellow even made by lovecraft?

I have never seen him in any of the lovecraft stories. have I missed something? or is it just made by someone other than lovecraft. if so I don’t consider him canon since I only take what is made by Lovecraft to be canon.

I saw someone claim that sue storm could beat dr doom

That is just not true. Dr doom in his strongest forms literally has no way of losing. And dont tell me that he is not using his own power because that isn't true his intelligence is part of his powers and be used it to get his greater abilities.

Who do you think is more powerful Nyarlathotep or Nodens (lovecraft writings only)

I think Nyarlathotep since the other gods are the most powerful beings in the mythos but nodens is also extremely powerful. Nodens is able to take on his servants and maybe an avatar and annoy him but I don’t think he could beat a being as powerful as Nyarlathotep, even if he is debatably the weakest outer god. Both of them kill goku anyway XD.

Barzai the wise is kind of badass

I mean the other gods themselves had to intervene to stop him since the earthly gods could do nothing. He must have strong magic and influence in the dreamlands to make the earthy gods scared of a human. Kinda sad he was killed.

Is azathoth dreaming reality or not in lovecraft’s works?

don’t get me wrong, even if he isn’t dreaming reality that really doesn’t change much, he is still invincible. this post is not an attempt to question his power it’s to try and understand if there is any basis for the specific dream reality argument in lovecrafts original work. can someone tell me if it is ever suggested by lovecraft that he dreams reality? I think it’s just head-canon/theory although not necessarily wrong since a lot of lovecraft is up to interpretation

Hot take: I hate it when other authors put Cthulhu mythos into their stories and make the cosmic beings way less powerful than they should be.

Lovecraft meant for these beings to be beyond comprehension and things like marvel make the characters way weaker. yog sothoth and azathoth are supposed to be all powerful beings, possibly the strongest in all of fiction. I understand that lovecraft wanted everyone to use his characters and I respect that, but many authors don’t respect lovecrafts world and beings in it at all. tell me what you guys think.

How to unlock Lovecraft in tesla force?

I heard that you need to collect 150 crystals after his quest shows up but what will it look like when the quest shows up and what triggers it to show up? I want to know this before getting the game since I loved tesla vs lovecraft but am unsure about the sequel.

How powerful do you think the earthly gods (lovecraft writings only no expanded mythos)

By earthly Gods I mean beings like Artemis and Neptune and nodens (Greek/roman/other mythology gods) or similar beings. I know they are nowhere near beings like azathoth and yog sothoth but how powerful are they in comparison to Cthulhu.

Is this written by lovecraft: nyarlathotep damaged azathoth?

I heard someone say this happened but I can't find it in any of lovecrafts writings. Is it part of the extended mythos or written by lovecraft himself? I dont think its written by lovecraft himself since azathoth is simply too powerful to be damaged by nyarlathotep (although nyarlathotep is also powerful)

Yog sothoth (despite being one of the most powerful beings in Cthulhu mythos) is very chill in comparison to other entities.

a human went into his realm and he just talked to him and gave him knowledge. i dont know if any other cosmic being in Cthulhu mythos would do that. I guess having so much knowledge makes him more understanding (for lack of a better word because I know he is beyond those terms). I find is fascinating that a being that is so overpowered even by Lovecraft‘s insane standard can be one of the less inherently aggressive gods. What do you guys think?

Thinking on getting a game that isn’t popular (musashi vs Cthulhu) Wondering if it has a glitch that will ruin it for me. If anyone knows anything please tell me

usually in this game Cthulhu is supposed to appear in the background at a certain point but in this video he doesn’t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOvPFUUBMhw

this is what is supposed to happen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9gEFweZOh8

so why didn’t it happen? Is it that the switch removed it? I really can’t find this information anywhere and I may not find anyone who knows but if you do please let me know

My interpretation of Cthulhu (remeber that the story is very vague so don’t get mad if you disagree with me, lovecraft made it clear that everyone had the right to their interpretation of his story)

first this first: Quotations (directly from hp lovecraft original writings)

There had been aeons when other Things ruled on the earth, and They had had great cities. Remains of Them, he said the deathless Chinamen had told him, were still to be found as Cyclopean stones on islands in the Pacific. They all died vast epochs of time before men came, but there were arts which could revive Them when the stars had come round again to the right positions in the cycle of eternity. They had, indeed, come themselves from the stars, and brought Their images with Them. These Great Old Ones, Castro continued, were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape—for did not this star-fashioned image prove it?—but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone houses in Their great city of R’lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for them.

Poor Johansen’s handwriting almost gave out when he wrote of this. Of the six men who never reached the ship, he thinks two perished of pure fright in that accursed instant. The Thing cannot be described—there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force, and cosmic order. A mountain walked or stumbled. God! What wonder that across the earth a great architect went mad, and poor Wilcox raved with fever in that telepathic instant? The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own. The stars were right again, and what an age-old cult had failed to do by design, a band of innocent sailors had done by accident. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight.

Then, bolder than the storied Cyclops, great Cthulhu slid greasily into the water and began to pursue with vast wave-raising strokes of cosmic potency. Briden looked back and went mad, laughing shrilly as he kept on laughing at intervals till death found him one night in the cabin whilst Johansen was wandering deliriously

They worshipped, so they said, the Great Old Ones who lived ages before there were any men, and who came to the young world out of the sky. Those Old Ones were gone now, inside the earth and under the sea; but their dead bodies had told their secrets in dreams to the first men, who formed a cult which had never died. This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R’lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway. Some day he would call, when the stars were ready, and the secret cult would always be waiting to liberate him.

I suppose that only a single mountain-top, the hideous monolith-crowned citadel whereon great Cthulhu was buried, actually emerged from the waters. When I think of the extent of all that may be brooding down there I almost wish to kill myself forthwith. Johansen and his men were awed by the cosmic majesty of this dripping Babylon of elder daemons, and must have guessed without guidance that it was nothing of this or of any sane planet. Awe at the unbelievable size of the greenish stone blocks, at the dizzying height of the great carven monolith, and at the stupefying identity of the colossal statues and bas-reliefs with the queer image found in the shrine on the Alert, is poignantly visible in every line of the mate’s frightened description. Without knowing what futurism is like, Johansen achieved something very close to it when he spoke of the city; for instead of describing any definite structure or building, he dwells only on broad impressions of vast angles and stone surfaces—surfaces too great to belong to any thing right or proper for this earth, and impious with horrible images and hieroglyphs. I mention his talk about angles because it suggests something Wilcox had told me of his awful dreams. He had said that the geometry of the dream-place he saw was abnormal, non-Euclidean, and loathsomely redolent of spheres and dimensions apart from ours. Now an unlettered seaman felt the same thing whilst gazing at the terrible reality.

They knew all that was occurring in the universe, but Their mode of speech was transmitted thought. Even now They talked in Their tombs. When, after infinities of chaos, the first men came, the Great Old Ones spoke to the sensitive among them by moulding their dreams; for only thus could Their language reach the fleshly minds of mammals.

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread.

Great Cthulhu is Their cousin, yet can he spy Them only dimly. Iä! Shub-Niggurath! As a foulness shall ye know Them. Their hand is at your throats, yet ye see Them not; and Their habitation is even one with your guarded threshold. Yog-Sothoth is the key to the gate, whereby the spheres meet. Man rules now where They ruled once; They shall soon rule where man rules now. After summer is winter, and after winter summer. They wait patient and potent, for here shall They reign again.”

Lovecraft confirmed in a family tree that Cthulhu is descended from the other gods.

My interpretation of Cthulhu’s goals/power with everything before this paragraph in mind: Cthulhu mythos is very vague, so this is not confirmed. The point is that humans can’t understand these beings. Cthulhu is a descendant of the other gods and is extremely powerful. So powerful that humans can go insane by looking at him. He has many powers and I am not going to list them all (especially since the quotes themselves list a few of them) but he is not as powerful as the other gods that he worships as the great priest. He may be able to channel some of the power of the outer gods into himself. Cthulhu’s awakening marks a huge cosmic shift and other great old ones and even the other gods will get awakened/involved. This interpretation is only using the original lovecraft writings. No expanded mythos. Cthulhu goal is to bring other powerful entities into this reality and transform/destroy it.

edit: his true form is higher dimensional

It must be hard being an anti woke mod in Reddit.

I think we need to show appreciation to the mods of subreddits like this that remain anti woke on Reddit, it must be hard to stay true to your beliefs and maintain a community like this when Reddit is active in trying to shut down freedom of speech. these efforts are appreciated by people like me, so don’t give up!

To all the woke movie fans

no, peach and Rosalina are not more powerful than bowser. stop being woke feminists. without a power up they get cooked and he can use power ups too. no, rings of power is not good, it’s an insult to lord of the rings, and no, the gay Marvel cinema universe is not at all better now than before. please stop ruining movies. I miss back when we could see a straight couple on a screen and no one would complain about the creator being homophobic or whatever.

I am attempting the hard mode secret bowser fight with no assist mode, no extra health, and invisible cap. I haven’t even beaten this boss once yet with assist mode by the way, so this challenge is gonna be brutal.
