How do I make my backgrounds look less empty?

Hi, I'm very new to graphic design and I'm trying to focus on social media posts. So far, I am trying to make some sample instagram committee introduction posts for my university's karaoke club (I am using Sabrina Carpenter in this post to protect my anonymity lmao). I initially made the first image, the one that only has the gradient background, but it felt really empty. I then tried adding some background elements from a figma plugin, and although I feel it looks a bit better, it kind of feels like I've added random shapes with no actual criteria. Does anyone have any advice for this type of issue? are there any rules or guidelines for how people usually approach empty-looking backgrounds?

UKVI passport details not updating

I was on a student visa from 2023 to the end of the 2025 academic year when I suspended my studies. While I was in my home country, I changed my passport. I am now trying to apply for a new student visa, but my UKVI account is linked to my old passport. It won't let me change my passport until I "Confirm my identity", which I can only do by applying for a new visa. When I get to the part of confirming my identity through the app, I use my new passport, it detects its a different passport and gives me the option of linking my passport to the UKVI account, but when I accept it just takes me back to the beginning of section and doesn't change anything. Can anyone help me out with this? is it just taking a while to process? thank you
