How does Rod of the Pact Keeper or Wand of the War Mage work in combat if I'm using a two-handed pact weapon for my attacks?

For example:

•Round 1: Attack with my pact weapon (then stow it?)

•Round 2: Draw the rod/wand and take the Magic action to cast a spell. (I assume I can't make opportunity attacks with my weapon while holding the rod/wand?)

•Round 3: Put away the rod/wand (is it an action?)

•Round 4: Draw my pact weapon and attack?

Can I draw my wand, use it, and then put it away as a magic action? Or are those two separate actions?
