Baby waking upset from afternoon contact naps or cosleeps, but not morning sleeps or cot sleeps.
I can't figure out what's going on! My 4.5 month old often wakes up from afternoon contact naps or cosleeping naps and gets very upset. A few times I've nursed him as soon as he stirs/cries and he usually goes back to sleep, but then is still upset on the last wake or is too upset immediately to focus on nursing. He usually calms down if I take him into a brighter space and walk around with him chatting or singing. I don't think it's hunger, temperature, or teething. He never wakes upset from morning contact naps, and rarely from naps in his cot. Any ideas?
For context: We contact nap for almost all day naps, with the occasional cot nap if I need to do something for myself. I still feel a bit nervous about cosleeping (how do you make sure baby doesn't roll off bed?) but have done it a few times when I've desperately needed a nap and have found it very special, especially the times he hasn't woken up upset and I've woken up to his big eyes and little smiles. Night sleeps are in his cot next to my bed and he wakes 2 or 3 times to nurse, usually around every 3 hours, and goes right back to sleep on the boob. I've been nursing to sleep for almost all sleeps lately, but bounce and shush pr sing if he's not hungy. He's a very very happy and chill baby who doesn't cry much at all in general.
I'll make a separate post about this at some point, but for now I'll just say this sub has been an incredible balm for me and I'm very grateful.
