AIW for refusing service to someone paying in coins

Iv just gotten off night shift and I had an encounter that left me extremely anxious. At around 2 am a couple came in trying to buy cigarettes. Then they poured out there entire wallet only consisting of five cent coins. I said “I’m not counting out 60$ in 5 cents it’ll backup the line.”(tradies start around this time) They then started to berating me and calling me little girl and other weird derogatory things. I’m quite a small person and these people where tall and chunky so I just kinda stared at them before asking them to leave they then called me a racist and started screaming for the cook and kept calling me names until the cook was forced to serve them so they can leave the next few hours of my shift I was kinda zoned out because iv genuinely never witnessed anything like it, iv never been scared that a customer was going to hurt me even with other odd people. But I don’t know if I should have just sucked it up and counted out 1200 5 cent coins?

(I am not American things are more expensive here and we have different laws)

Work on the road

Hey everyone I’m fixing up a van to travel the country I’m just wondering if anyone has advice for finding work on the road. I’m fine staying in destinations for a time but is it genuinely hard to find examples; fruit picking, barwork, seasonal shows I’m an Australian citizen if you think visas might be difficult

I’m from Australia, I live in a big mining town so we get a lot of people from all over the world looking to get a piece of 60$ an hour industry pay rate. I work in hospitality and iv kind of noticed over the years that Americans, are generally shy or keep to themselves when you engage conversations.

answers are very blunt and usually one sentence answers. (example) oh you’re from Alaska must have been rough leaving a cold winter and landing in the 50 degree summer” “I guess so” “are you travelling to see anything once ur 88 days it up” “yeah will be”. Similar situations have happened to my coworkers as well and I’m just confused why they seem so surprised when someone from a famously friendly country speaks to them? Is it because of stigmatise from media if so guys Australians love you guys and your country is really cool to us!!!
