A reading from *Tides Of War* #35

*The waters of the salt sea had a faint taste of iron, blood was spilled in the water, ever since the once sovereign nations of Tulunai and Atlantis waged war on one another, blood continued flowing, the mythical sunken city declaring religious war on the island nation of smilodons and reptiles, each nation prepared for the war.*

*Tulunaian soldiers divided into two regiments; the boarding crew dubbed The Tylosaurs and the marines dubbed Léones Del Rey, equipped with boarding pikes, cutlasses, rifles, compound bows, harpoon guns… And even tamed wild animals like trained monitor lizards, modern day Sabretooth tigers, and semi-aquatic attack dogs… The Atlanteans brought with them in retaliation the horrors of the abyss, hoplite regiments, wielding their own spears and aquatic weaponry like barbed spears, shark tooth weaponry, bronze and iron swords and shields, and even their own beasts like sharks, dolphins, swordfish, and squid…*

*The armies marched across the waves, the Atlanteans with the advantage of not needing submersibles, as the war ships arrived, the Atlanteans surprised the Tulunaians, crawling upon and boarding their ships and launching anchors to grapple onto the boat and even slowly sink it, and now… War begun, the Tulunaians deployed their beasts and deployed their training that their forefathers and ancestors taught them… The Atlanteans doing the same with their hoplite formations of phalanx and superior hand to hand combat…*

*But this wasnt the only battle that was happening, for beneath the waves was another one of titanic and godly proportions… You see for the reason of this war was that of a religious dispute, Atlantis as a whole was a Hellenistic Greek society, with centered worship on a singular god of the seas… Not inherently monotheistic as the other Greek deities existed for them but their praises laid unto the Pontos, god of the sea and patron chief of Atlantis… Tulunai was different, a once pagan nation that was evangelized into a predominantly Roman Catholic nation, with centered worship on the lamb… But a strange entity defended this island, although he wasn’t its patron deity, the island was his to protect, and this brought the scorn and blight to the eyes of Pontos, viewing this… Pretender as a false and inferior oceanic deity… Thus declaring Tulunai and its people and plunder… His.*

*No outside forces would be able to choose a side as the seas raged, the sky thundered and poured, beneath the deep blue, Trisagion swam beneath the war zone as suddenly— Pontos rushed in! Clamping down onto the scaly hide of the pliosaurus as he slammed him against the ocean floor, the ground collapsing as they descended deeper into Davy jones locker… The clash began, each punch they delivered shook the sea, quaked the bed of Poseidon, scared off any horrors of the deep as the king of Atlantis tested the Master of the Midnight Zone, suddenly they grabbed onto each other as they clamped down, biting each others shoulder as Trisagion’s conical jagged teeth sunk into Pontos’ fleshly hide and Pontos long abyssal maw sunk into Trisagion’s brown flesh, golden ichor and deep crimson filled the water as they thrashed, before Pontos got the upper hand… Slamming Trisagion into the sea bed as he held him there…*

*”Now… I’ll tear out your heart!”*

*The King of Atlantis said as the reptile’s eyes slowly shined red as he slowly began to rise, Pontos trying to hold down the reptile as his hands tensed and shivered, the ground cracking as dust and sand turned the black water now murky as the only thing that was visible was the deep crimson light in Trisagion’s eyes as he responded in response to the threat.*

*”Thou will find **nothing there!**”*

*The reptile yelled and bellowed out as he grabbed the cranium of Pontos and dragged him across the sea bed, running across the ocean floor before jumping up forcefully fighting against the ocean’s weak current and pressure as he slam dunked him.*
