Ten days ago I fell of a couch I was standing on: my body moved but my foot did not, and after a good tumble looked at my legs in the air to see a very floppy left foot about 45 degrees off where it should be. I’d guess it was millimetres from bone breaking through the skin. Because gravity is a cruel mistress, I was stuck with my leg in the air for the 45 minute wait for the woo woo van. My housemate had to contort herself to help keep the leg up ways while trying to also not pass out (she’s not good with broken things). The 1am ER experience was a HOOT /s
Trimalleor fracture dislocation. Pretty obvious from the x rays.
One week post break check in and the surgeon was not pleased by the excessive swelling (2nd photo onwards), and won’t confirm if he’ll go ahead as planned on 7th May until another x ray on the 6th. I have done nothing but elevate and ice (and take pee breaks) for 72 hours because I’m more terrified the surgery will be *delayed* than occur as planned - I have no leave and can’t afford not to work. My housemate has been a godsend through this but they can’t cover my rent as well.
I just want to get to the ‘next step’ so the long, long recovery can actually begin. So glad to find this sub.
