A few days ago I was texting my mother about my friend, who's lesbian, separating from her wife. I told my mom that the friend's mother is very accepting of her even though she's a Christian like my mom is (although clearly very different). My mom seemingly just ignored the text and said, "Goodnight, love you". I have to admit I was aggravated, so I called an LGBTQ hotline (I know it's mostly those who have awful thoughts running in their head but just wanted to vent). I told the lady a brief history of my mom and myself. I told her, "I know these lines are mainly for people having awful thoughts but I need to just rant a little bit." The lady said I seemed to try to keep the peace and avoid being my true self around my mother to keep her from being upset.
