Help Deciding - Kaanapali or Kihei?

I've been perusing for a couple of weeks. Many thanks to all who take their time to reply to posts! You're more helpful than you realize!
My wife and I are planning a trip in June 2027 for 4 days/5 nights. Mostly will be a relaxing time and the only thing on the agenda is dinner at Morimoto's (we love watching him on Iron Chef). There's a good chance we will do the sunrise at Haleakalā but not 100% yet. Other than that, our plans are low key and enjoying the beach.
We're planning on an oceanfront condo (max budget of $600 a night). I'm stuck between deciding between Kaanapali or Kihei. Given our plans, Kihei is better located but after watch some recent drone footage, the Kam beaches took quite a hit. Really want an unobstructed view of the ocean and sunset with very close beach access. Not concerned about the pool. Heartbroken to see Kihei Surfside booked up for June so I was deciding between Ashton Mahana in Kaanapali or Hale Pau Hana in Kihei. Would you recommend Kaanapali for better beaches but a further drive from what we want to do or Kihei for the location but more damaged area?
