Spanish transfer credits?

Did anyone transfer to UGA from another school having taken the equivalent of Spanish 1001, 1002 and/or 2001, 2002? Took Spanish in high school and will take the placement test. At GSU they will put you in 1001 if you score low. UGA doesn't allow Spanish 1001 if you took it in high school. Just wondering if 1001 through 2002 were done at GSU if it would be okay.

Confused about language requirements (History BA)

Met with an advisor yesterday and was told to take four semesters of a language after switching major to History (after one year of Biology). Took Spanish in high school, not AP, and the teaching was so bad that testing out of 1001 seems unlikely.

In History BA it says:

Required:

  • World language at the 1002 level or higher 3 Hours

Also, from the major, choose 18 credit hours in Field Of Study electives. There are many classes to choose from including:

  • World language 1001 (if different from world language taken in high school)
  • World language at the 2001 or 2002 level

I'm very confused about how much language is actually required. I can understand taking Spanish 1001 not counting (but possibly necessary to proceed). Also, there is chance these classes could be part of transferring to UGA.

Any advice is appreciated.

My kid is finishing up her first year at Georgia State (Perimeter) with a plan to transfer to UGA after year two. She picked an Associate's Degree (Biology) and has since decided she wants to pursue a Forestry degree at UGA. She's used HOPE for this year. I contacted UGA and they helped me figure out the classes she needs to transfer to UGA for this program. We signed up for a couple of these classes for this Summer and I'm now getting a warning of "You have registered for a course(s) not included in your program of study and will not be covered by federal financial aid. Outstanding requirements are preventing you from receiving your Financial Aid Award(s)."

Obviously we'll be setting up a meeting with an advisor, but I'm starting to worry about this process since GSU doesn't have the same kind of Forestry program that UGA does. Needing a path of study makes sense, but it didn't cross my mind until now that HOPE is contingent on it. Does this sound difficult to navigate? HOPE is a big part of our college planning.

My kid is finishing her first year at Perimeter and has had HOPE pay tuition for the first two semesters. In the process of this year she's decided to switch majors and has signed up for classes that will transfer to UGA with this new major. GSU does not offer this major, but she can take a full two years of classes to fulfill a transfer. I'm getting conflicting info doing a search, but does it matter for HOPE that these classes don't officially follow her Associate's Degree? What threw me off is this message when I was looking to pay tuition for Summer classes: "You have registered for a course(s) not included in your program of study and will not be covered by federal aid." Is HOPE tied into this?
