Suspicious Customer Service Activity
I opened a spending account with ally to go with my savings account I have with them and my debit card said it was returned to sender and to call ally about it and the whole situation seems strange.
I called the number provided in the ally app and they asked for my name, last 4 of social, my security questions, birthday, and how many accounts I have with them to verify I'm the account owner. The lady verified my address and said I'd have to call back in a couple days for someone to be able to help me get a new card ordered.
The next day I tried logging into my account and it said it was locked and my reset password attempts failed and to call them. I called the number it provided in the app and I got a guy that asked the same questions to verify I'm the account owner. After giving him the info, he said he can't do anything right now and that a member of their team will call me once they settle what they need to on their end.
I don't get why they couldn't transfer me to the correct department, I don't understand how my account is locked after trying to have my debit card reordered, being told they couldn't do anything both times and no reason each time seems strange. Both times I called, they were numbers provided by the Ally app so I'm trusting they're legit.
Has anybody else ran into this?
