Jul 10, 2026, 5:45 PM – 8:00 PM

Wethersfield Cove, 533 Main St, Wethersfield, CT 06109, USA

The Connecticut River Conservancy is hosting a beginner-friendly evening paddle at Wethersfield Cove in Wethersfield, CT.

This event is geared toward beginner and advanced-beginner paddlers who want to learn or refresh basic kayak skills while exploring a scenic part of the Connecticut River. CRC will provide a brief kayak skills and water safety lesson before the group heads out for a flatwater paddle around the cove.

Participants may bring their own canoe or kayak, and a limited number of single kayaks are available to borrow by pre-registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Paddles and life vests are included with borrowed boats. Anyone borrowing a kayak should arrive early at 5:30 PM for gear outfitting.

Good to know:

  • Beginner-oriented flatwater paddle
  • PFDs/life vests are required on the water
  • Youth paddlers age 14+ are welcome with an adult
  • Rental kayaks have a 250 lb paddler weight limit
  • Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and any personal essentials
  • Heavy rain or high water cancels

This sounds like a great option for anyone looking to try kayaking, build confidence on the water, or explore a local Connecticut River spot with a guided group.

👋 Welcome to r/CTTouchGrass - A new community for Northeastern adventure!

After seeing so many threads on r/Connecticut asking things like “What’s going on this weekend?” or “How does someone in their 30s meet people in CT?” I realized there are a lot of outdoorsy (and outdoors-curious) people looking for new trails, adventures, events, and friends to explore with.

I’m hoping this sub can become a fun, welcoming place to share outdoor activities across Connecticut and New England. Post about community events, find activity partners or groups, share photos and trip reports, ask for recommendations, and help plan larger events or meetups in the future.

Whether you’re into hiking, running, biking, paddling, swimming, camping, skiing, snowboarding, or just looking for a reason to get outside, you’re welcome here.

Feel free to introduce yourself, share your favorite local outdoor spot, or post what you’re hoping to do outside this week!
