Things to Do in Hartford?

Hello Hartford! It’s been a minute since yall have had one of these, so I decided I might ask.

I’m coming to Connecticut for a Connecticut Sun game but I’m staying in Hartford and commuting there. I’m curious if there’s anything that is must-see in the city that I wouldn’t know about.

I love nightlife and pretty architecture (we don’t have much of it in Phoenix, I’m afraid) so any recommendations would be great!

Thank you in advance!!!

Capewell Lofts

Hi! I am just looking for any experiences related to this apartment. We were looking to relocate to this area. We put down a security deposit but had several discrepancies with the leasing management and wondering if this is a theme. We toured a unit following a security deposit and the unit had black mold coming out of their pipes, to which we drew attention to and asked about, and were told “it is just condensation.” The pipes were literally dripping on our feet and the room’s carpet was wet. They also started our lease for a specific time and unit, but then when we came to tour the unit specified in said lease, they showed us a completely different one and told us we’d be moving at a different date - messing up the timeline for my current lease at the current apartment. We pulled up the lease to show them and they said they are “unsure about it.” We also inquired about the size of the entryway to the apartment to see if it would accommodate furniture we ordered and it took several days for them to tell us the door width. Just wondering if this is something residents regularly encounter, and or if the mold we saw and leasing issues were just an anomaly. This apartment was beautiful but feeling pretty scared off. I guess just
Hoping for some positive anecdotal experiences. Thank you for any insight!

Air Conditioning…again

I live in north central CT and with the threat of a high heat index with high humidity this week, I just wondered what most of you set your AC to. We have fans we use until it gets hot in the afternoons. I’m not a sadist and like to be comfortable. I just don’t know if I’m a wimp. My electric bill is $149 a month year around. (I also have gas heat in most of the house.)

Something weird in taxes?

My property tax bill should be due tomorrow. But the bill said 0 due on July 1, even though a lot more due for the tax year. Is anyone else's tax bill not looking right?

Who do I call?

There has been a van parked in the back of our lot for over a week now. No plate on the back. Not sure about the front. Im pretty sure its the same guy that was always parked by the gate in Goodwin park. There are a lot of kids that live in my apartment building. Multiple people have called the office because he is taking up 2 spots and we pay to have a parking pass. He is constantly going out front to talk to the drugged up hooker that walks up and down Webster. The tow truck has no problem towing us if we aren’t even lined up correctly. Yet noone has done anything about this guy living in his van. Is there anyone I can call seeing the office isn’t doing anything about it? I was thinking non emergency police line but wasn’t sure if there was something else. I wont even let my daughter go alone in the lot.

Dead kitten on neighbor's lawn for 3 days now and it's making people feel sick looking at it

My girlfriend has told me that her neighbor has had a dead kitten on their apartment lawn for 3 days now, and it's making some of the people in her household feel sick when they have to pass by it, especially her younger sister who is really sensitive to this sort of thing.

What are their options? 311 has a form for dead animal removal but it's only for city property and on roads. They don't have the means to handle it themselves, but it seems like the landlord of that building doesn't care that it's there (assuming they even know, though I'd be surprised if they didn't).

If anyone knows who they can call to take care of it for free, like maybe some animal control clinic or something, that would be very appreciated. They can't afford to pay for it's removal right now.

I see this everyday on Main st

I live close by bushnell and I see people driving in the bike lane everyday. I ask the city why don't they put a jersey barrier in front of the turn only lane that if you don't turn you drive in the bike lane. They said they didn't know it was a problem.

Repair and Auto Body?

Anyone have any recommendations for auto body and/or repair shops? I don’t have mechanic friends or designated shops I go to. Firestone and the maker’s local service center aren’t easy on the wallet nor are they my favorite choices, either. My subaru needs service and I’d like to fix up the bumper as it hasn’t held up well (although it’s just a cosmetic concern).

Funny Bone

Potentially headed to Funny Bone from out of state for first time to see a show - since it’s in a mall, is it a pain or pretty easy? Also, easier to meet the comedian performing since it’s in the mall or no?
