I've been on the internet since 1999. It never used to bother me as much until now that people usually default to imagining me as anything other than what I am--Native American. People are sometimes interested or even "fascinated." Most of the time though people are just straight up cruel and dehumanizing towards Native Americans. A lot of the time I typically end up just feeling tokenized or like a resource for learning about my "exotic" culture. What I really end up feeling is bitter and alienated/marginalized/excluded/ostracized and most of all isolated. I think once people realize they can't related to me, they stop trying. I've spent most of my life in a city so I also sometimes feel the same vibe from my community or other natives but way less so. Part of what makes this most frustrating is that when people are feeling hopeless about our leadership and the administration, 574+ Indigrlenous tribes/people and leaders from our community are RIGHT THERE the whole time with solutions and long-held traditions of stewarding the land we've been on THE WHOLE TIME. The constitution was even based in large part in the Great Law of Peace. Yet no one has any clue about where to go from here. While I'm not an advocate of just handing over the reins to tribal government (which is basically at times just a replica of the US govt) maybe making decisions more in line with what a native would do or giving larger credibility and responsibility to elders and the matriarchy would help? Idk I feel like I'm taking crazy pills that make me invisible.
Dinner is breakfast tacos my husband made.
A tiny drop of syrupy popsicle juice stained the cover of my camel passport. I hastily cleaned it off using warm water and a drop of dishwashing liquid. In the process some of the dye lifted so that area is a tiny bit lighter than the other bit. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this spot less noticeable? I honestly can't stop focusing on it
