I built a simple tool (audiobookspeed.com) to calculate exactly how much time you save at different playback speeds
Hey r/audiobooks folks,
Like many of you, I love listening to audiobooks at sped-up rates (usually around 1.25x or 1.5x, depending on the narrator). However, I always found myself doing annoying mental math to figure out exactly how long a book would take to finish at my current speed, or what speed I needed to set to finish a book before a long road trip ends.
To solve this, I built a lightweight, free website called https://www.audiobookspeed.com/
What it does:
- Time Calculator: Input the remaining book length and your playback speed (e.g., 1.5x) to instantly see the actual listening time left.
- Speed Finder: Input your target finishing time, and it will tell you exactly what playback speed multiplier you need to hit to make it happen.
It’s completely free, has no ads, and requires no login. I made it purely as a utility for fellow bookworms who want to plan their reading schedules better.
I’d love to get this community's feedback! Are there any specific features, calculators, or adjustments you’d like to see added to make it more useful for your daily listening?
Thanks for checking it out!
