A Tribute to the Kimchi Factory in Macon
Since moving to Macon over a decade ago, I have noticed that many restaurants people rave about end up closing before I even get a chance to see what the fuss is all about. Kimchi Factory was fortunately not one of those restaurants.
I remember the layout of the dining area being a bit odd, with booths shoved into small rooms, but the food was very delicious. I planned on becoming a regular after that first meal, but soon afterward, I learned they were closing.
An article by John T. Edge in Garden & Gun, written shortly after the restaurant opened, informed me that the restaurant struggled from the very beginning, which was true for many businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic.
I hope the Kims are doing well now and that one day they can open a restaurant that stays open much longer than Kimchi Factory did.
