Tracking every gram of food is wrecking me mentally

Tracking every gram of food is wrecking me mentally

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share my story and hear your thoughts/advice. Please don’t compare yourself to my situation or my blood sugar numbers, everyone’s dealing with different stuff in life.

I got diagnosed at the start of this year, at 22, and honestly I was in total shock that something like this could even happen to me.

These days I weigh and track literally every single meal so I know the exact carbs. I try to keep my meals at roughly a 2:1 ratio of carbs to fat to avoid spikes as much as possible. I can’t really enjoy food anymore without thinking about my blood sugar levels and checking them 50 times a day. It’s messing with me mentally more and more, and even with all that effort I put into this, the only reason my numbers look this good is because I’m still in the honeymoon phase.

Diabetes really sucks and I hate the thought of dealing with this for the rest of my life. What’s weighing on me right now is knowing things can pretty much only get harder once the honeymoon phase wears off, and I’m just trying to keep everything under control somehow.

Wishing everyone reading this all the best <3, and I’d love to hear your comments and advice for a newbie like me.
