1 Ton 5-Star vs 1.5 Ton 3-Star AC — which would you choose?
I'm confused between these two Panasonic 2026 inverter ACs:
1 Ton 5-Star: Rs. 38,971
1.5 Ton 3-Star: Rs. 35,128
My room is 117 sq ft, 10-ft ceiling, 3rd floor but with one floor above (not directly under the terrace). It's west-facing, with a 3×4 ft west window and a 3×10 ft south-facing glass balcony door. Usually 2 people, occasionally 3.
Important: AC usage will mainly be at night, around 8–9 hours/day, only for 3–4 months/year.
My dilemma: I know 1 ton is generally considered sufficient for 117 sq ft, but the 1.5 ton is actually Rs. 3,843 cheaper and has much higher cooling capacity.
Since both are inverter ACs, once the room reaches the desired temperature, won't the 1.5-ton compressor throttle down and reduce its power consumption? If most of my usage is at night, is the 5-star 1-ton really likely to save enough electricity to justify paying Rs. 3,843 more?
Which one would you buy 1 ton 5-star or 1.5 ton 3-star? And why?
