Any way to eliminate constant drone with IEMs connected to headphone output?
So I’m trying to set up my fifine K658 usb mic, and my IEM setup like this:
For input: K658 → USB → PC
For output: Kiwi Ears Astral (my iems) → 3.5mm headphone jack on the K658
I’d like for my pc audio to come through the iems exactly as if they were connected directly to a clean dac but the problem is that I get a constant static/drone from the K658 headphone output.
I’ve tried connecting the iems directly to my pc/dac, to which I get no drone. I also get no drone when I connect my XM4 overears to the K659 jack.
When I physically mute the K658 it removes my voice/keyboard sounds, but I can still hear the drone, and turning down the K658’s physical gain/monitor control lowers my voice/keyboard monitoring, but again the drone is still there
Windows “listen to this device” is off.
I think the drone is unrelated to windows mic monitoring and seems to be coming from the K658’s headphone output/monitoring circuitry
The Astrals are sensitive iems (23Ω, 105 dB/mW), so it’s possible that it’s just revealing the K658’s headphone amp noise floor
I know that an external dac would solve this, but I specifically want the Astrals connected to the K658’s 3.5mm jack because I want just one usb connection from my mic to my pc.
Is there any way to eliminate the drone completely while keeping this exact physical setup? I’m looking for a way to get zero drone.
I’m kind of new to this stuff so this may be a dumb question but I’d really appreciate any help** 🙏 **
