Question about X3 Switch 2 Edition

I dont know how much we know overall in terms of details at this stage, but I was curious if anybody did have knowledge and could help answer something for me.

Im looking to pick up a Switch 2 this weekend, before the MRSP goes up in September. Mostly for Fire Emblem, but also looking at maybe grabbing X3 (i played it a bit on S1 borrowing a physical from someone else but would like to go back and finish it).

Cost wise, can I just buy X3 now and then buy an "upgrade pack" in Dec, or is it set up where its cheaper to just buy the Switch 2 version when it launches?

All Current Reward Codes (July 25 2026)

Below I have listed all of the reward codes that are currently working to the best of my knowledge. I try to post an updated list every few weeks, so if youre looking at this post and its kinda old make sure to check for the most recent one.

If any of these codes have expired, please let me know in the comments so that I can remove them from the list and save people the annoyance of trying to enter codes that don’t work (which is the worst). I know there are several on a lot of other lists that get posted here that are out of date; I do my best to avoid that problem - mostly by personally testing each code before I put up the list - but sometimes things change day to day, and the help of commenters helps me to keep things up to date.

New, temporary codes are included towards the top, with the older (permanent) codes listed further down.

The List

First, if you are a new player, you can use the referral code below for 100 Blackstone by going to Settings -> "Refer a Friend" and inputting:

WAX-47-INN

Please note that you can only use a referral once per account. I appreciate anybody who does choose to use my code, but if you have IRL friends who play the game, or if you're in a Guild with some buddies, I genuinely and truly encourage you to stop right now, not use my code, and instead ask them for their code and give the reward to someone you know rather than someone off Reddit.

What franchise or sub-series are you dying for another entry in?

And what, if anything, do you think is the secret ingredient that the devs should add to take it to another level over its predecessors?

For me, it is without a doubt a Devil Survivor 3. I genuinely think Devil Survivor was both one of the best jrpgs we've had and one of the stronger entries in the broader SMT cataloge. The battle style, which kind of combines the "Ogre Battle/Unicorn Overlord" style with grid based tactical gameplay (i.e. you move units around as in Fire Emblem, and when they make contact it goes to squad v squad combat) remains a super neat system..

I know DS2 was a bit controversial plot wise, or at least some folks preferred the story/atmosphere of 1, but on a gameplay level it felt like an even further improvement and i really apprecited the expanded cast. The "final" versions of both, on the 3ds, were fantastic.

Give me a third entry!!!! Especially with the increased popularity of the overall SMT/Persona series, I think theres a huge opportunity there.

And when you do, the one thing I still think has some extra potential is more room for variation between characters. The one thing that struggled with 1 and 2 is that most characters fell into one of 3 archetypes (mage, fighter, or hybrids - which tended to be pretty weak as a result), qnd weren't particularly differentiated beyond that. This meant either using your fave, since gameplay wasn't that different, or just deciding who had the most hyper min maxed stat line. Either way, the end result was that ever the first day or two, youd have 10 to 15 characters but mostly settle into a team of 4 and not really have any reason to ever switch up who was seeing field time.

I think you could really add some depth (or just reason to rotate units around) by either giving everyone an inherent passive skill (maybe someone gets natural flying movement, or someone automatically heals units after combat and therefore makes a good tank, etc), giving everyone different compatibility with different demons (for example, by having a set of monsters with high, neutral, and low scores as in Persona 2, or by just having a broader Law/Neutral/Chaos alignment as in Strange Jounrey to encourage using units who match), or both.

Would love to hear what anybody else thinks - what is your "dream revival" and whats your vision for it?

What classes are each of the DH Companions?

Im the type of person who likes to look at all the companions, choose who Im interested in, and then build an MC that fits into the space left over.

Accordingly, wanted to get a sense of each of the companions from a gameplay perspective. What is their class / role?

For example, Abelard in RT being a Navy Warrior that plays primarily as a melee tank.

Yrliet is a special origin, Operative that plays as a sniper.

Argenta is a Soldier with an Imperial World, Ministorum base. Ranged DPS.

Etc

What are we looking at for Cogg, Haymar, Laarthyr, Chorda, etc? It's hard to find the info clearly on here so far
