Just came across this comment in abhi samayal channel. She posted so many healthy solid food recipes for her toddler and her food habits also looks ok to me. That homemade chocolate videos are my savior to avoid store bought chocolates (because I have 2 kids - one school going and 2nd toddler). I was not much active online for few weeks and people still talk bad for not showing her baby !? She is better than many vloggers in my pov. What do you think ?
Honestly, when I first joined Reddit a year back, this Tamil influencer sub felt much calmer. People discussed content, gave opinions, sometimes criticized too, but it mostly stayed respectful. Now it feels completely different.
After the Asmitha Vishnu scam issue blew up, the sub became so toxic. Nowadays people don’t stop with criticizing content. They dig into influencers marriages, families, divorces, health, personal choices & everything. And the worst part is how casually people judge without knowing what someone is actually going through.
Take Rithu for example. For months there were posts asking for tea about her divorce and personal life. So many comments were insensitive and judgmental. But the moment she opened up yesterday, suddenly the same people started commenting “stay strong” and acting supportive. That’s not real empathy.
People shouldn’t have to publicly explain their pain for others to treat them with basic kindness. If someone is quiet about their struggles, that doesn’t mean they deserve speculation or mockery.
Same with Divya Neelamegam. People here kept making fun of the bandage on her hand for years. There were jokes, sarcastic comments, unnecessary discussions. But once Asmitha spoke about her diagnosis, suddenly everyone became sympathetic and started praying for recovery.
Why wait for a diagnosis, heartbreak, or public confession to become humane?
At the end of the day, influencers are still people. Criticize their content if you want and that’s fair. But constantly digging into their personal lives, relationships, health issues, and family matters is just cruel & toxic, especially when they themselves haven’t chosen to share those parts publicly.
If only after someone opens up about their suffering we decide to support them, then maybe we were never being kind in the first place.
