advice for making edibles?

I have probably 7-8g of ABV flower. I think it's 9% THC and 10% CBD. I can't use alcohol but I want to make it into edibles. I'm not sure how to dose it properly, I would like each individual one to be enough to get properly high but not freaking out locked to the couch high. Does anyone have any advice?

Weening my brother off slop

Hi, I’m 20 and have a 4 year old half brother. His parents have followed the “last child, give up” cliche a little bit but also had a very difficult death in the family when he was 3 months old and my stepmum gave him her phone sometimes when she needed a moment. I understand that and I won’t blame her for it. However they are still constantly shoving phones in his face, letting him scroll YouTube kids which means he’s come across weird cat ai shit obviously, and he is very demanding about what he watches. He’s the sweetest most caring little boy I’ve ever seen and he’s remarkably empathetic for his age but he has a very short temper and attention span. I don’t want to be too judgemental of my parents but it’s a bit painful watching them give him access constantly to complete slop that’s destroying his little brain. As someone who had complete unrestricted internet access when I was young (sort of 9 upwards I’m not young enough to have been using it at his age), I know full well what kind of content you can find yourself or by accident and it was very damaging to me. You can understand what kind of content I’m referencing.

He loves things like slime videos, so I was wondering if I could make him a dvd style video of slower sensory videos and mute them then put calming music over the top? It wouldn’t be faced paced or constantly switching videos, and I was hoping if he was interested that it might be a good alternative. I’d have it downloaded on my laptop for him so hopefully the “Oo playing on my big sisters laptop” might appeal.

I’m not in a position for a lot of reasons really to start sitting them down and having a chat with my parents about it, nor is it my place, so I was hoping this could help. Any thoughts/ bemoaning the youth today appreciated haha

Advice for deciding if it's working

I've 20F been on a prescription for about 3 weeks now for anxiety and depression. I'm also undergoing an autism assessment. I'm struggling to decipher what I think/what I've internalised from others, or if I can confidently say it's working. An important factor is I'm a recovering alcoholic, which I remember telling the clinician - it's also on my medical records which I believe releaf has access to. I used weed recreationally before this and sometimes in conjunction with alcohol.

- So far, I've been quite moody but no more than usual

- The moodiness is not as frequent, and I'm experiencing far more moments of real happiness

- I'm a bit clumsier I think

- It genuinely clears my mind, stops it racing so much and helps me go about my day

- I find myself reaching for more than maybe I should, but I'm trying hard to stick to the dosage, not take it in a bad mood or when I'm craving alcohol badly, and as the days go by I'm naturally having less and less

- I'm nearly 30 days sober again (whoop) and haven't relapsed since I got the prescription

- With my mind racing less I'm able to let cravings pass more easily. I get a bit thirsty for booze when I'm high, but I find just drinking lots of water solves this

- I don't feel worried that it's going to make me relapse, I perhaps worry about using it as a crutch but my mindset is moving increasingly far from that - it feels more like a useful tool

- I'm binge eating some evenings, sometimes to the point of discomfort (I don't realise I'm uncomfortable until I've finished eating). Alcohol made me bloated and gain weight and it was lovely to see my body get back as I exercised more and cut out the booze, but I'm worried about weight gain with the munchies. However, I did find while I was drinking that I barely ate and am still getting back into the routine of 3 meals a day. I think due to the autism I struggle to know when I need food. I'm not really having excessive calories in that context, but a lot of sugar and fat.

- I'm procrastinating exercise and work but that's in no way unusual

My loved ones are understandably worried about me taking anything. My mum after seeing the prescription and hearing my experience seemed won over though. I also keep being told "don't smoke weed, it's the worst thing you can do, your anxiety will get worse". I don't know what I believe and what I'm worried about really. Basically, I just wanted a bit of perspective from someone with more experience and someone who's impartial to me.
