Studio Headphone Recs

Lots of questions, but first some background. I’m aware of the noise (no pun intended) surrounding “beginner” studio headphones like the M50x and DT 770 Pros (80), and would honestly be fine with either one since I have no baseline or preferences for headphones atm. I’ve been producing for about 2 years and only recently began diving into my mixes. I like to make bass heavy music without vocals or live instrumentation, often with intentional clipping, and have been working out of 2 consumer products (AirPod maxes & Bose sound flex link, clown me all u want). Now for some questions.

  1. How much of a difference will a switch from the max to a studio headphone realistically make? I’ve heard the drivers are great in the max, but they’re obviously eq’d as a consumer product. Currently my mixes (especially low frequencies) don’t translate well to other devices, and while it could be my poor mixing, could a studio headphone alleviate some of my issues?

  2. Both of the mentioned pairs are many years old. While I’m aware new doesn’t always equal better in tech, are there any new pairs worth looking at that might beat out the DT and m50x purely from tech advancements? I have a discount at Sennheiser and heard there might be competing pairs.

Thanks for any help yall.

Entertainment Law Schools

Having trouble getting a lay of the land as far as good ent. law schools to target. I spent my formative years invested in music and would love to work analogous to it on the business/contracts side. I’m aware of schools in NYC (Cardozo) and LA (UCLA, USC, etc.), but cost of living is a serious factor for me irregardless of scholarship money (unless I’m getting a stipend/full ride). I was ultimately looking for some of those sleeper entertainment law schools outside of those areas that are worth targeting. My best guess was a school such as Emory around Atlanta, or maybe a Florida school. Stats below.

- 3.84 GPA, PSU marketing undergrad, blaw minor
- yet to take LSAT
- weak softs, although looking to work as a legal assistant soon

I’m aware getting in to schools with a high GPA is also highly contingent on the LSAT, but for my own sake I’m gonna have the fake confidence to say I’ll get in the 170’s if I join the 2028 cycle. I’ve only recently began studying too, so if there’s any recommendations on places to start that would be helpful!
