Why Saab? Whyyyyy?
My 09 9⁵ Automatic Sport Combi will show "Reverse" on the dash but be in "Park" at the gear shifter. My mechanic told me how to fix it and i rigged it up to get home. For All their engineering prowess. I want to know if anyone can tell me why they designed a soft rubber piece, in an inferno hot area to do the heavy lifting for the gear shifter?!?!? Why not weld it? Even some type of locking nut? Is there a more permanent fix? I just cant see putting another rubber/plastic piece on it with all of the heat in that area!

ECM protection
Hey all. I have an 07 9³ 2.0T and a 09 9⁵ SportCombi.
A fellow Saab buddy of mine said that I would better protect my ECMs if I grounded them to the battery with a thicker, say 6 gauge, grounding cable.
He also suggested that I use a piece of automotive heat shield wrap/metal or piece of welding blanket between the mount and ECM to help in the cooling of the computer. Or doing something even more drastic like move the ECM altogether like place it under the transverse radiator bracket (directly behind the radiator on a small console), away from the intake manifold and engine.
Has anyone done any of these? If so have they worked? Any thoughts on if these tricks will work effectively?
