Paper Pure vs Supernote Manta

Hi, I have been eyeing the Manta for about a month and even though i really love what I hear, the pen and folio seem too expensive in the final bundle always, which has made me look for pen mods and diy stuff. While that is very exciting in its own way, I just saw the paper pure came out and it is like 450 USD all included. I am a first time e ink buyer. I am looking for a device to basically read and annotate alot of books/pdfs etc and have all my notes in one place. I wanted your guys' thoughts on the new device and whether you think it would be good for my usecase. I have the advantage of no brand loyalty currently and just want an experience I don't have to finick with too much. Even with the subscription, the Paper Pure comes out cheaper after several months of payments. I also am on a budget tight enough that the Supernote would have been a stretch for me always. The Paper Pure kind of is in my comfortable range with everything included and the package just feels more complete with less compromises? If I get the Manta, I would be getting the refill with a pen adapter plus a DIY folio type thing. I also have seen that the software itself is fundamentally different in how it organizes stuff and that the Remarkable is geared more towards writing than reading whereas I kind of need a balance. Anyways, thoughts?

Should I just get the Remarkable Paper Pure instead of Manta?

Hi, I have never had an ipad before. I am a psych/philosophy student and most of my work is basically reading and annotating papers and books. I am also very disorganized so instead of trying to keep track across several notebooks etc I want a solution that lets me keep all my work (with handwritten annotations) in one place.

I was considering a BOOX device but since I already have a macbook, I am guessing the workflow with an ipad will be way less janky. I am also pretty strapped for cash and have found alot of really good deals online for refurbished/used mini 6's. The screen size is perfect for me as I use smaller notebooks already. However, I have also seen concerns that due to the age of the device, apple might pull support soon and that it is better to get the mini a17 pro instead to keep receiving updates. The latter is however is much more expensive even when I can find one used.

So, I need advice as to whether, for my use case, no software updates even matter. I don't at all intend to use the device for anything other than reading and annotating, taking notes, maybe have a safari tab open for quick searches etc. Is this limited enough of a use case that it won't suffer when apple pulls support for the device? What sorts of problems could I face? It's not like apple will also pull security support so soon or popular third party notes-app developers will stop offering updates on the mini 6 right?

And are there any other things about the a17 pro that are uniquely worth paying more for, given my use case? Like the pencil pro compatibility seems pretty attractive but I have no idea (having never used an apple pencil myself before) as to whether that even matters for just notetaking and annotations. The barrel roll sounds cool but idk if it at all helps my writing performance. The squeezing function for pen menu does seem really useful however, but I would appreciate input from someone who has used both the pencil pro and pencil 2nd gen to pitch in with whether that makes a huge difference during day to day workflow. But this is mostly tangential. My main concern is still software updates and if those are not an issue, I would happily get the much cheaper mini 6.
