Well that sucks...AXP90-53 incompatibility.

I am sorry for the camera quality, I am using an old phone while mine is under repair and it has debris between the outer shell and the lens itself.

I went with the AXP90-X53 cooler for my CPU (LGA1700) because it was the best money can buy at this size without going AIO. What I didn't know would be the long term impact.

7 months I went with that cooler without any problems, then suddenly my computer started shutting down at random, then suddenly, it wouldn't turn on at all. It took my hours of losing my mind, trying to figure out what was happening. Then I realized it looked like a hole had been put through my riser, I tested another one and suddenly it works like new.

The mounting hardware for the AXP90 has screws that stick out far beneath the motherboard, these screws would then push the riser against the GPU. Over time this seemed to wear it down.

This is a heads up that you should be cautious when mixing these two components. I'll be looking at alternatives, possibly ID-Cooling or Noctua. Open to suggestions.

PC has stopped booting.

Hey everyone, hoped you are doing well.

Earlier today, I was experiencing issues with my PC where it would shut down at random, without warning, almost like the power cut out.

My first step was to try swap the power supply, nothing. I then tried changing the GPU, nothing. It was after I took one of the RAM sticks out that it finally posted. But then after reassembling everything and putting the stick back in, it was still working.

My PC fans were kinda loud at idle so I decided to shut it off, but now it no longer boots.

When pressing the power button, the fans spin for less than a second, the power supply makes a clicking noise, then nothing. Holding the power button repeats the same process over and over. Sometimes it boots, but there is no video, only light from my RAM.

As of now, I am testing the RAM configuration and have swapped the PSU again with an entirely separate one but still dead. I am a little frightened, as I may not have the money if it's something serious.

Here are my specs. Please, if someone could point me to the right troubleshooting steps, it'd be greatly appreciated.

  • Gigabyte H610I DDR4
  • Intel I5-12400F
  • Sapphire PULSE Radeon 9070 XT
  • 2*8GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz CL16
  • Corsair SF750 SFX PSU

PC keeps shutting down repeatedly without warning.

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well and would be kind enough to help me with this.

As described above, my PC has been shutting down without warning all day. I'm not quite sure what's causing it.

At first, I thought it was something to do with power, however I was not doing anything and all my other devices connected to the same outlet were doing just fine.

I tried checking journalctl, I couldn't find anything interesting but I am not exactly experienced with it so there may be something I've missed.

I've tried inspecting my hardware physically but nothing stood out to me.

So I have no idea if this is a hardware or a software issue. If someone could help point me in the right direction with troubleshooting steps, I'd appreciate it.

Stuck, looking for self-hosted Airtag/FMD alternatives.

Hey, I hope everyones day is going well.

For a bit of context, I will be going to a convention in August with some very valuable things. However, because I use a degoogled Fairphone, I do not have access to Google Play or Apple services.

So naturally I turned to self-hosting, because I don't think there are any other networks that would have good enough coverage. Problem with this though...

  1. I have never owned a GPS tracker, so I can't tell what is good or what is bad.
  2. I have trouble finding a GPS tracker that isn't designed for a car or fits my specific needs.
  3. Ones that do fit my needs don't exactly state the protocol they use so I am not sure if I can add it to something like Traccar or other self-hosted software.

What I ideally want is a small-as-possible tracker that I can stuff inside something, with bring-your-own-SIM, battery power, and open-source/able to work with open-source software.

I was not sure whether to look at this subreddit, r/GPStracking, or r/degoogle, so I am just covering my bases.

If this is out-of-scope for this subreddit or I am downvoted to hell, I apologise in advance.

Unable to unlock bootloader.

Hey, I have a problem.

I recently bought a pair of Moto Tag 2s. After realising I could not install them on e/OS, I switched back to Android to add them to my Google Account. After that I went back to e/OS.

During e/OS set up, I realised I could not set a pin. I read up online that this is to do with the google accounts that were previously on the device. So I went to switch back, but now I cannot unlock the bootloader.

Each time I try to unlock the bootloader, the settings app crashes.

So now I am in a position where I can't set up authentication for bank accounts, and can't switch to another OS.

What do I do? I am on the Fairphone 6, running e/OS 3.7.3.
