My most unexpected catch to date!
I'm currently on holiday in Scotland, and decided to have a bash with a Dexter wedge as it was going dark. I let the wedge sink a little too far and started snagging the bottom. I thought I'd hit a clump of seaweed with how heavy the line went, so just keep reeling to clear the lure.
As I cleared the surface, this beauty dropped off about 10ft out in the surf. It took me a moment to realize what it was, before I was furiously wading out, shoes be damned.
Got it onto shore, already dreaming of a lobster dinner, but turned out she's a girl!
She was absolutely packed with eggs (you can see how many in the picture), so she's been safely released, and I guess it's a pot noodle for tea.
All in all, I'm gutted that she wasn't a keeper, but also over the moon to have been able to see something you don't see every day, and at least I have an interesting story!
Hopefully my shoes will dry out quickly.....
