Question about photographing a framed glass etching

Hi all!

I might not be in the right subreddit for this but was hoping for advice on how to photograph something. My friend made a glass etching art piece for me and it might be the nicest gift I’ve ever received from a friend. The problem is that I want to photograph it so he can put it on his website and so I can make a post thanking him. Im… struggling…

The problem is that it’s built into a frame with solid backing and edges that stick out, so I can’t really light it from anywhere but the front. When I do that though, the reflection is so strong i cant see the piece.

Any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated!
