Unable to show shops the bank card that matches the last four digits on the receipt for refunds

I'm in the UK. Today I went to take something I previously bought back to a shop to return it. They asked me to show them the Bank Card that matches the last four digits on the receipt, I think this is so that they can know for sure I am the correct card holder (i don't really know what they ask this for). Anyway, the trouble I've got is that I paid with my Astari ring, which is linked to my Chase current account bank card via the Curve app, and the trouble is my Chase card does not end in those 4 digits printed on the receipt. The receipt shows 1234 whereas my Chase bank card ends in 5678.

Why is the card I paid with not showing the correct last 4 digits on the paper receipt handed to me? I've checked other receipts from other shops and it's the same story. My actual card ends in 5678 whereas all my receipts state the last 4 digits as 1234. Why?

As a result, I wasn't able to present the card that matched the last 4 digits on the receipt, and told them I would have to go away and look into it (a little embarrassing). What do I do?

My curve card's long card number also does not end in those last 4 digits. I don't know why this particular shop (H&M) are making such a fuss about this. I went to another shop yesterday (Next) and they did not ask me any questions, instead they just told me to tap my Astari ring on the card reader and the refund was processed no problem.
