Weezer vs The Vampire Lestat and Daniel Hart

Weezer vs The Vampire Lestat and Daniel Hart

Anyone pick up on how Hit the Lights (Bare Bones) was almost certainly based on Butterfly by Weezer (on Pinkerton)? Took me a few days to think of where I’d heard it before.

Weezer (Pinkerton) - Butterfly (YouTube | Apple | Spotify)
The Vampire Lestat - Hit the Lights (YouTube | Apple | Spotify)

Daniel Hart did a great job scoring this season, the finale in particular. The rock songs are pretty good—if a little derivative (it is just a TV series)—but the orchestral pieces are amazing.

Go back and listen to the pieces playing over Lestat’s witch trial flashback (starts ~25:40) and “‘the soul’ chorus” flashbacks (starts ~38:00) at the long table in the finale (S03E07)—absolutely perfect. The strings during the witch trial… some of the best scoring I’ve ever heard. Can’t wait for the soundtrack album to come out.

Wasted meditation session?

Is there ever a sitting session that is truly just wasted time? Or, even worse, that sets your practice back?

The only instance off the top of my head: you spend 30 (or however many) minutes letting your mind wander and allowing yourself to identify with all your passing thoughts, anxieties, fears, etc. without bringing your attention back. I’d imagine some schools wouldn’t even consider that time wasted. I’m ask mostly in the context of vipassana.
