Piaggio Ciao losing power after riding for 15 minutes

I am having an issue with my 1977 Piaggio Ciao. I finally got it running and took it out for a longer drive today for the first time, and after 15-20 minutes of riding I stopped for a light and the engine died. I was able to get it going right away after but for the rest of the ride home it had less power, with a 5 mph drop in top end speed.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I don’t think it’s overheating since I was able to get going again right away, but I could be wrong. Could the condenser be bad? The wiring is a little boof right now since the previous owner ripped it all out, I haven’t wired the lights or anything yet, just what’s needed for spark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stumped on 1977 Piaggio Ciao Repair

As the title suggests I’m stumped on getting my moped to run. The state I’m at is having good spark and compression, but I’m not confident the fuel is running correctly. When I turn it over I occasionally get a couple pops but that’s about it. I had it running for about a second once. This suggests an issue with the carburetor, however the jets are clean, fuel is in the bowl, air is being pulled in.

As a last ditch effort I sprayed some starter fluid directly into the cylinder through the spark plug hole with the carburetor detached, and that started up and ran well for about 10 seconds until it ran out of starter fluid. This suggests the issue is with the carburetor.

I will likely try recleaning the jets and the rest of the carburetor, but any other insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
