What's In a Name

So there's a lot of insistence from people who have seen the Topps card that it is definitive proof that the Psylocke in the series is Kwannon.

However, all signs from within the show itself point to it being Betsy: she has Betsy's storyline, Betsy's voice (in the comics, Kwannon does not speak with a British accent), and Betsy's personality. The actress is even saying she hopes she does "Betsy" justice on Instagram! Betsy originated the knife and the butterfly. The swap was a retcon that unfolded in the comics while the original series was airing, beforehand the "swap" was purely a cosmetic change to Betsy's body.

All that said, if despite this they still named the character Kwannon, how would that be a good thing for her as a character? I am sincerely asking, because to me it feels like it's reducing Kwannon to a name and a body, nothing else. Why is that preferred? We should be pushing for her to have Kwannon's personality, Kwannon's relationships.

And before someone says "well Kwannon doesn't have her own personality" she absolutely does. She is not nearly as self hating or as murder-happy as Betsy is... And she is more motherly and stealthy, something the character so far is not in the X-Men 97.
