Quick question: Did I waste a legit locksmith's time by canceling after 5 minutes? (Plus a scam check)

I had a stressful afternoon today and just wanted to share what happened, get some perspective, and honestly, get a little peace of mind.
I got locked out of my house today around 8:30pm. I Googled a locksmith, called the first number that popped up, and immediately got a weird vibe. The dispatcher demanded $25 upfront via Cash App before anyone would even drive out.
I told him hell na and I wouldn’t need the service after all from em and hung up on him lol.
I then called a legit company and 5 minutes later decided to check one last window… lo and behold, this window was unlocked, so I crawled back inside my house. I immediately called the legit company 5 minutes later (when I discovered the window) to cancel.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Do legit companies really ask for a security deposit via cashapp before they even dispatch anybody
  2. Did I waste the real company’s time with that 5 minutes? I feel kinda bad
