Is this kind of hotel customer service normal in Da Nang, why?

I’m staying at a hotel Reddit recommended at about 26 usd per night.

It started out well room was nice, but then the aircon stopped working when I got back from a bike ride so I gave it some time and then talked to front desk who was some young woman who spoke little English. She told me to wait and see if it would work.

Then it didn’t after 1 hour and then I asked her to contact her manager and she just kept saying tomorrow tomorrow and I told her no, I paid for aircon. She ignored it until I threatened her with a refund request.

Then she said she would check if there were early checkouts so I could switch a room tonight. I said ok and waited another hour and heard nothing. When I then returned she had simply left and the night shift was in, who I didn’t see the point in bothering.

I’m going to make a refund request to Agoda now and make sure to tell everyone about my bad experience.

The question is however what does the manager here think she achieves by this unprofessional behavior? That people will just suck it up?

Do influencers and people gushing over places like Da Nang just lie or have Rick bottom expectations?

This isn’t only about Da Nang but I’m here now and it’s nowhere as I expected, trafficked, noisy, ugly, full of trash. It’s third world in s very bad way. Laos as an example is third world in a good way.

Do people not notice these things? Da Nang is more India than it is Thailand.

What’s going on with the people who like these places and gush over them? Do they just not know any better due to being young and inexperienced?

I need a bicycle cardboard box or travel case asap!

Thought it would be easy to find but no. Called a few shops and they don’t have it.

If you know somewhere that has it please let me know.

I’ll also buy your box or case if you have it!
