Supplements / Protein in Da Nang

Hi guys,

Can you buy Supplemente in good quality in Da Nang? For example L-Theanine and Whey? Or is it better to buy it in Europe first?

Advice.... I think I'm being staked

11:22pm, I'm in a hotel 21 floors up across the beach with the door closed.... I can hear the "Banh Bao guy" even this high up 😐

he has randomly been popping up near me off and on for days. He is like the ultimate tracker. He must be following me, stalking me with his "Banh Bao day" and "Banh Bao now"... He says it in such a steady mono-rythmic tone

Should I be scared? Should I run away? Who is buying Banh Bao at 1122pm???

10 years experience about Vietnam. I'm Korean.

I'm Korean.

I'm working at Middle part of Vietnam about 10years.

I think that the country called Vietnam that you simply look around for a few days and see with your thoughts fixed is different from the country that you experience while living in Vietnam.

This is personal experience, so each person may differ.

  1. Korean culture, no, it is similar to East Asian culture - Although it is located in Southeast Asia, it is easy to understand if it is emotionally called the East Asian cultural area.

The need to be polite to adults and respectful to children.

Among Korea, China, Japan, and Vietnam, Vietnam is the strongest.

Vietnamese people often ask your age. It seems like you clearly distinguish between yourself and the other person’s hierarchy.

When I see an adult, I bow my head.

When drinking with an adult, use both hands instead of pouring with one hand.

Do not lift the chopsticks before an adult does so.

If the other person is older, speak in a lower voice.

We perform ancestral rites.

Among East Asian cultures, Korean and Vietnamese cultures are completely consistent.

  1. Vietnamese like Party

Marriage takes place twice: on the man's side and on the woman's side. Korea is a one-time experience.

Vietnam have a party for the baby's first birthday. It's the same in Korea.

When a ancestral rite is held, relatives and people not related to the ancestral rite also go and enjoy the party and sing karaoke.

It is easy to see scenes of parties taking place in the yard of a house.

Every house has a karaoke system so you can enjoy singing.

Bring husband, wife, and children to company dinners. So all the employees and their families become close friends.

Even strangers sometimes sit next to me and listen carefully and then drink together. It's delightful.

There are a lot of party clothes.

  1. Vietnamese drink a lot of alcohol.

Koreans also drink a lot, but it’s different. Vietnamese drinking much more.

Vietnamese make strong wine at home and usually bring a box of beer and drink a lot at restaurant

In Korea, people mainly drink strong alcohol and beer as dessert. This is because Koreans hate being full.

These people don't think it's a joke when they ask you to drink all night long. I think I'll really drink it all night long.

  1. Average height is increasing.

My staff is not taller than me, but his son was cute 10 years ago when he was little, so I gave him pocket money, but now he has grown up and when I meet him, he is much taller than me. It feels like there is a height revolution among teenagers, and the average height has increased significantly.

There are so many stories, but that's all I can think of today.

Explore Da Nang food with a local

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m a local in Da Nang who enjoys exploring local food and hidden spots around the city. I haven’t worked as a tour guide before, but I’d love to connect with travelers who want to experience authentic Da Nang food beyond the usual tourist places.

I can share local restaurants, street food, seafood spots, and everyday places where locals eat. I’m also interested in cultural exchange and meeting people from different countries.

If you’re visiting Da Nang and want to explore local food with a friendly local, feel free to message me 😊

Is Da Nang quiet at the moment because of flight issues?

Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about coming to Da Nang soon and was wondering how the tourism situation is there right now.

Because of the current flight / jet fuel situation and all the airline issues lately, is Da Nang still busy with tourists at the moment or is it noticeably quieter than usual?

Would be great to hear from people who are there right now or recently visited. Thanks!

Looking for Mossy Frogs

I understand that mossy frogs are mostly native to the northern part of Vietnam, but i was wondering if there are any hiking tours or anyone that has had prior experiences with looking for these frogs in Da Nang or within the vicinity.

Need shopping advice

Where, or in which shop(s), can I find better quality fake Clothing available on the market, without getting lost in the crowded marketplace? I'd really like to buy something, but I'd like to take a good look at the clothes first.

Expats, tourists you are not kings. You are VISITORS. A message I feel like sharing.

It boils my blood to see toursists and foreigners treating shopkeepers or service workers as if theyre lesser than them. That people leave their plastic matcha cups on the street becaue "someone will clean it up".

Where is your dignity?

You are a visitor of this country, look around. See how hard the people around you are working to provide you with all the affordable things you are enjoying, the grandmas in the food stands selling bahn mi from morning to night sitting there the whole day - in the rain, in the heat, the grab drivers grinding their ass off to provide you with food, groceries and transportation 24/7, the construction workers, the grandmas selling mango and greens in the middle of the street squatting.

Look at all these people around you.

They are all doing their part to the maximum. Can you have space in you to appreciate and find respect in all of that is already handed to you?

It baffles me to see tourists in this land that everything here literally is accessible to them yet they contnue to show signs of survival mentality of hoarding, exploitation and general distance/coldness while everything is handed to them with such kindness from the Vietnamese people. (I am shocked for that fact personally, I expected that once people have their basic needs met they'll be open to provide more for others but that's another discussion).

Please. For the love of God. Make space to see the humans around you, where you are, and how you are showing up in this moment, in this country.

It doesn’t have to be much. A simple "Xin chào" when walking into a store or interacting with a shopkeeper, a "Cảm ơn" while looking into the eyes of the seller or Grab driver handing something to you.

And that's not me asking you to behave in a certain way. I am asking you to be aware and acknowledge your position and the country you are in, the people around you who are providing so much of what you are benefiting from. Just acknowledge it for one breath, for Christ's sake.

I am writing this as a foreigner visiting this country. I am deeply humbled and moved by the abundance here, knowing it all comes from the hard work and hospitality the Vietnamese people provide.

Honestly, there is a part of me that doesn’t understand how they still allow tourists in after some of the scenarios I’ve seen and the ways people treat them.

I only witnessed 1 act of kindness from a foreigner in my month of stay. And I am actively looking for it and observing (while also doing my best to provide myself, so this is not a criticism, just an observation. So all of this was bubbling in me.

Thank you for the space and thank you Vietnam for everything I get to experience here.

Edit: I would like to share my intention in sharing this. As I shared it from an emotionally charged place and it might have got mixed into blaming.

I am not blaming anyone, not the foreigners or expats as a whole. I am pointing to a pattern I have observed, and I am open to hearing different POVs if you have a different experience. You're welcome to write it here or DM me. For me there is a clear gap in that dynamic and I don't think there is a solution to this.

My intention was to bring more awareness to the pattern it so we can notice it and in a way hold it together. If you feel like this doesn't have anything to do with how or what you are. Great.
If something in it stirred discomfort, cringe or defensiveness then I would self-reflect on that.

Looking for a reliable business lawyer/consultant in Da Nang – The ghosting is real.

Hey everyone,

I’m an expat entrepreneur looking to open a premium wellness center here in Da Nang (100% foreign-owned LLC, no local nominee structure).

I've been at this for a month now, and dealing with local legal firms has been an absolute nightmare. I’m either getting completely ghosted, or sitting in meetings with lawyers who barely speak English, text on Zalo the entire time, and suggest I "just open a coffee shop instead" after I just explained a detailed wellness concept.

To top it off, some of them just push me to find a Vietnamese nominee partner or start giving me shady advice on how to "wash" money.

I have a clear project brief ready to go. I just need a highly professional, responsive legal partner or business consultant who actually understands foreign investment, licensing with the Department of Culture and Sports, and knows how to communicate.

Does anyone have a solid, reliable recommendation for a firm or consultant in Da Nang who can actually get things done legally and professionally?

Appreciate any leads!

Arsenal vs Burnley

Visiting Danang and hoping to watch the match tonight somewhere lively and hopefully full of fellow Gooners.

It’s a 2am kick off. The loose plan is Shamrock pub, but is there anywhere better for it?

TIA
