2023 Explorer ST - Any recommendations to improve ride quality?
Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a 2023 Ford Explorer ST, and I absolutely love it overall. The power, looks, and interior are exactly what I was looking for.
My only complaint is the ride quality on rough highways. On freshly paved roads, it glides beautifully and feels amazing. But once the highway gets uneven or has expansion joints and rough pavement, the ride becomes pretty harsh. It’s honestly the only thing that makes me question the vehicle.
Has anyone made changes that noticeably improved comfort without completely ruining the handling?
I’m mainly wondering about:
Different tires (I’m still on the factory tires)
Suspension upgrades or softer shocks/struts
Lower tire pressures (within a safe range)
Any other modifications that made a real difference
I’m not trying to build a performance SUV—I just want to make long highway drives more comfortable while keeping the vehicle enjoyable to drive.
I’d love to hear what has actually worked for you. Thanks!
