Prospective ST owner. Not crazy about the stock wheels

Very close to purchasing an ST, and currently dialed in on the vapor blue metallic. Thinking about doing one of three things about the wheels. Either powdercoat the existing rims gloss black, swap them for the pre-refresh version, or possibly wait for the 2027 with sinister package.

What say you ST enthusiasts?

Anybody do the ST experience?

I’m thinking of doing this while I’m visiting family in Chicago. Anybody do this? Was it cool?

Side Window Deflectors

Ford OEM vs WeatherTech vs (?)

What set of side window deflectors look best on the ST? I just purchased a ‘22 and want to put a set on to get some airflow during rain and snow.

Hard to tell from just pictures, but the WeatherTech seems to “bow” out more than the OEM. I’m wondering if the OEM look better IRL, but also if there’s much difference in the quality, function, obstruction to line of sight? Is there another brand that is recommended? I’d like to keep a sleek/sportier look.

Thanks!

Is it true ST have a lot of issues or certain years are problematic?

I know all cars have issues. But skimming the ST page everyone is swearing by tranny issues and other common reoccurring issues.

So I'm just basically trying to find out if it's just a case by case basis or is there certain years to avoid?

New 22” Wheels and Tires

Hi all. My wife and I picked up a ‘26 ST in April and have been loving it. We both felt it could use a more aggressive wheel/tire setup, so we had this setup installed last week: 22x10.5 et30 forged wheels (Alibaba) with 305/40/22 Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires. I’m extremely pleased with the result.

The craftsmanship and finishing on the wheels is as good as or better than previous forgings I’ve bought at 3-4x the price (I inspected them thoroughly while applying ceramic coating), and the customer service and ordering/delivery process was the among the best I’ve ever experienced with wheel purchases. I say this as someone who has experience both as a customer and retailer of high end wheels, and only for the purpose of addressing any interested person’s doubts about the quality of Alibaba-sourced forgings.

H&R springs are being installed this Friday, and then I’m done modding for a while (maybe)!

We did a thing…

Was looking to trade a 2017 Platinum for a newer used version of the same with absolutely no desire to purchase a new car. After two weeks of research, finally settled on three different 2023 Platinum’s, checked them out and then went back to the one we liked, we saw this.

On Saturday August 15, 2026 it followed us home.

With the Summer discount promotions, 3.9% interest and what we got for the trade, the difference between a 3yr old 34k mile Platinum and a brand new 0 mile ST was manageable.

After we got home last night I ordered a J&L Oil Catch Can and Redline Tuning Hood Struts and replaced the plastic tire stem caps with some black anodized aluminum ones, first mod complete!

My flair, “It’s my wife’s”, ain’t a joke but looking for subtle mods I can sneak in that she may not notice. I’m no stranger to upgrades with my 2010 Mustang GT so pease fire away with suggestions.

Pulled the trigger on this ‘23 ST 2 months ago. Coming from Mopar(‘18 Charger Scat Pack) and wanted more room and updated interior. Any suggestions for initial mods?

New ‘26 ST (no roof & sound package) - FU: Purchase / Financing

Posted a lease quote a few days ago and realized that probably isn’t the best path forward, so I’m moving toward purchasing instead.
Quote sheet attached for a 2026 Explorer ST (no roof and sound package - doesn’t matter to
Me). Sale price is $51,655 after discount/rebate, and I haven’t seen another dealer in the area beat it. It also includes the full premium maintenance package for 2 years.
First question: Do you think there’s still room to get this closer to $50k, or am I already at a pretty solid number? Overall I’m happy at that price based on what I’m seeing.
Second question: Finances are good, but we just moved into a larger place and have a lot of upfront costs right now. I’d likely put $5k down, possibly more.
Any real downside to going with 72-month financing to keep the short-term monthly payment a little lower versus going straight to 60 months? I understand the risks around depreciation, being upside down, GAP, etc., but want to make sure I’m not missing anything else. Goal: have lower short term month to month then increase overall month to month payment to pay it down in 4-5 years.

I was quoted 5.74% for 72 months, and the dealer also offered 5.74% for 84 months. Since shorter terms usually price a little better, I’m wondering if I should push them for a lower rate at 72 months.
For context: 800+ credit score, finances are solid, and this isn’t a stretch purchase. Purchasing in PA.
Thanks in advance.

AWR diffential support.

Guys.
I just bought the awr differential support, however something that I do not like is to use the same e18 bolts from the diff cover to hold it, I measured the thickness of it and is 12ish millimeters.

Looking the part numbers for the bolts to have the pitch, thread size and length, seems that there is no info available, some pages said m12x1.75 others m10x1.5.

Does anyone knows really what’s the size?

Thanks.

Smaller wheel for winter?

I have a 2025 ST and last winter was a little rough with the stock tires. We get a lot of winter weather so I want a true winter tire going into this winter. It looks like the tire selection is a little slim for 21 inches wheels. Does anyone have experience with running 20 inch wheels? Was considering buying a set of 20 inch rims to use with winter tires and then using the 21s in spring/summer/fall. Even better, does anyone have a winter tire recommendation they’ve been happy with?

2022 Explorer ST Overheating / Cooling Fan Failure

Hey everyone,

I’d like to preface this by saying that I have nearly zero knowledge about fixing or even diagnosing cars myself. Every test/step/idea I did was done using AI and google searches, including this post. I had ChatGPT write a summary of everything we have discussed the past few days and copy pasted it here (I did edit the final version and added/corrected some facts, so if you read something completely dumb feel free to call it out).

I’m currently having a cooling issue on my 2022 ST. My radiator fans are completely dead, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a quick electrical fix or a deeper problem before I resort to leaving it at the dealership.

Here is the backstory: A few months ago, I was in a front-end collision. I had to replace the entire front fascia, along with (all brand new OEM parts):

Radiator Assembly
A/C Condenser Assembly
Radiator Cooling Fan and Motor Assembly
Front End Core Support Assembly

Right after that repair, the A/C started making a brief hissing sound for about 5 seconds at startup. The mechanic told me it was fine and would eventually go away. Well, it didn't. It lasted until a few days ago. I noticed this gradually, but every time the car idled for more than a minute, that hissing got louder and the A/C cooling dropped off slightly. I figured it was just a slow refrigerant leak that would need an easy fix and refrigerant top-up, but it kept getting worse.

Yesterday, however, I got stuck in traffic for about 2 or 3 minutes with the A/C on. The air went totally warm, followed by a "Coolant Temperature High" warning on the dash. I pulled over immediately and shut the car off. After a few minutes, I started it back up, kept the A/C completely off, and was able to drive home with normal engine temps and no warnings.

I took it to the Ford dealership the following day since I have an extended warranty. They told me I’d have to leave the car for 5 working days just for the initial inspection, and the paperwork literally stated they could hold the car for up to 45 days to complete the repair! I booked an appointment for next week just in case, but I walked out because I don’t want to be without a car that long if this is just a quick and cheap electrical fix. I went to a car guy I know to check out the issue but he couldn’t figure it out. Here is what we verified and tested so far:

The fan is dead: We started the car and cranked the A/C to Max to force the computer to jumpstart the fans. The fan still didn't spin at all.

The Fan Blades: With the engine off, the blades turn completely freely. The motor isn’t mechanically seized.

The Control Fuse: We tested the small Yellow 20A mini fuse (Fuse 8), which supposedly handles the fan relay coil and active grille shutters. The test probe lit up on both pins, so the control side is getting power. (This may not be 100% accurate as the fuse box lid does not have a diagram for some reason, and googling diagrams, I think Middle East explorers have different fuse box configurations? Attached a photo of mine)

The Main Plug (The Fail): The guy put a test probe directly into the thick, heavy-duty electrical wire bundle plug that feeds into the fan shroud pane. It did not light up. There is no power reaching the fan plug itself.

Since the top control fuse is fine but power is physically missing at the fan plug, I’m trying to trace the break. Could the body shop have pinched/cut the main power harness during the post-collision rebuild? Or are we looking at a blown high-amp internal fusible link or a dead relay embedded inside the fuse box? Is there something that I should inspect before giving up my car for god knows how long at the dealership?

Has anyone dealt with a similar problem?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Warranty Information Page no longer?

Hi all, back in June I was looking at my warranty information online. I bookmarked the page and all so I can check back over time. (see image) Within 2 weeks of me finding this page (Ford.com account, vehicle dashboard, warranty information. I can no longer see it / find it.

Am I the only one who can't find this page, or was it taken down??

u/East-Physics-9669 — 7 days ago

Someone Say Yes.

I have no one to bounce this off or give me the push I need. So thought I’d try here.

2022 ST. 28,000 Miles. $25,000 USD. 401A.

I’ll be financing so assume $36,000 USD all in.

No accidents. Clean history.

No warranty.

Love to hear thoughts or insights on this model year and your feelings on the price?

Appreciate it!

2026 vs 2027 Explorer ST

Hello,

I am debating between getting 2026 Explorer ST right now while the Ford Employee Pricing Event is on, or waiting for the 2027 Explorer ST to come out.

The major hold back for me is the change between fixed roof (2026) and the moving roof (2027). Granted I don't really open the roof very often in my current vehicle, but I feel uneasy having the only year model where it does not open.

The wireless charger was also taken away in 2026 model, and I believe it is not returning in the 2027 either.

What do you guys think? Is the opening roof a big deal? The fixed roof looks nicer in view I think, it doesn't have that separation in middle from the opening mechanism.
