The Weeknd Eras

Which one is your favourite?

Me personally After Hours is the most iconic, Hurry up Tomorrow is my favourite. The hair on beauty behind the madness is iconic too 😁♥️

More Weeknd album ratings 2026

I honestly think beauty behind the madness AS AN ALBUM is a little overrated. It has honestly some of his best work in the album, however it has a lot of let downs in my opinion. Starboy is slightly overhated, I think it’s his most iconic album and has a lot of underrated songs. And MDM is his 2nd most underrated work. Seriously not praised enough.

What are your thoughts?

I like the hurry up tomorrow cover change

❗️WHY I AGREE WITH HURRY UP TOMORROW’S ALBUM COVER CHANGE❗️

Right now the biggest question in the Weeknd community is why did Abel change the hurry up tomorrow album cover back to the original one on release. Some people love it, some people hate it. Whilst I love the original one, I agree with the change and I’m about to explain why.

The reason is simple, it fits the story of the final trilogy perfectly, let me explain. The weeknd has always used his album covers as a way to build worlds around his music and these 3 albums create this perfectly. The most important thing (which is why I agree with the new hurry up tomorrow change) is because of the eye positioning on each album, here me out:

After hours has Abel looking down at us, if you listen to the album and it’s lyrics, it’s almost like he’s looking down into hell, or a self destructive state of himself, it creates an uncomfortable feeling as the Weeknd confronts the listener with his sins, addictions and vulnerability.

Dawn FM represents Abel going through a purgatory state and reflecting on his previous behaviours being guided through by a radio station 103.5 Dawn FM. He is looking at us because he is slowly transitioning from the man he used to be. (After hours) He is challenging us to witness this.

in Hurry up Tomorrow Abel is looking up at the viewer, suggesting looking toward a new beginning or a new “tomorrow”. Finally escaping the loop the Weeknd has been in since Kiss Land. To finally end the Weeknd persona and look forward to a new era of Abel Tesfaye.

To sum it up
After hours represents self-destruction
Dawn FM represents self-reflection
Hurry Tomorrow represents self-acceptance

The first Hurry Up Tomorrow album cover is good, I like it. But this one reflects the story of the divine trilogy more, and perfectly executes the ending of the story better. ♥️
