Just finished Tales of Arise

I just finished Tales of Arise. It was decent for $10, but so far it’s sitting right at the bottom of my rating for the series.

The characters felt pretty meh to me. Why was the story so intensely focused on the romance? Shionne felt constantly hot-and-cold, Alphen was overly protective to a fault, and honestly, Kisara carried the entire cast on her back.

To give some context on my taste:

Berseria: Played it last year and absolutely loved it. Great cast, darker tone.

Zestiria: Also played last year. It was good, though I’ll admit the gear/crafting system was completely awful.

Eternia & Tales of the World: Played these years ago as a kid. I barely remember Eternia’s story, but I loved it then. For Tales of the World, the story wasn't amazing, but I loved swapping roles and focusing heavily on combat mechanics.

These older games are what made me want to explore the franchise more, but Arise kind of killed my momentum lol.

I want to try another entry to balance out my disappointment with Arise. Given what I liked about Berseria and World/Eternia, which Tales game should I jump into next?
