Anyone tried playing Tales of Games on a PS3 (CECHA00 - Japan)
The title speaks of itself, anyways who tried playing Tales of Series from Phantasia to Berseria?
Note: Some of the titles are Japan exclusives.

(*Hoping to avoid spoilers, either in what I post or subsequent comments*).
I really wanted to avoid this game- not only because it’s basically bottom-ranked out of the whole series in a lot of people’s lists, but particularly because I finished Berseria not long ago.
And Berseria was the most enjoyable game I’ve played in a long time - particularly in terms of plot/characters. It launched itself straight into my top 5 games, ever. And I really, really did not want to spoil that with a poor continuation of the world/story that might ruin Berseria in retrospect.
Yet my curiosity got the best of me. I couldn’t stop thinking about Berseria’s world building etc. so I finally jumped in. >! I just got to Edna joining the party !< so about 9 hours in, and so far… Well, expectations were rock bottom- But I don’t hate it. And it is not (so far) ruining Berseria for me.
Being less than 10 hours in this could still easily change - and the game isn’t perfect. It’s obvious barring some huge change, Zestiria cannot touch Berseria, which I figured. For one thing the story seems almost ridiculously rote and stereotypical. So far the game/plot/characters is a total cliche (although I definitely expect a twist at some point per Tales usual, the game plays its tropes remarkably straight so far). Where Berseria subverted tropes, Zesteria seems like the -embodyment- of safe JRPG stereotypes:
And that alone isn’t enough for me to hate it, or understand why it’s regarded as the worst Tales game. Ironically that makes it more tolerable somehow:
I know Berseria came out second, but it doesn’t ‘feel’ like Zestiria is even trying to compete in the same league, which somehow makes it more acceptable. I can just think of it like… ‘Berseria awesomely happened, but that world still went on, and other things must have happened after. And even though we know nothing -that cool- could ever happen again, then at least it might be fun to see what became of that world?’
And to me, it doesn’t even do bad job at embracing standard JRPG-ness. As a matter of fact, I think I actually like it better than Vesperia so far (which is ranked as the #1 Tales game on a lot of lists, but I found just middling when I completed it).
I will reiterate I am nowhere near completing the game (so this all could change), but so far Zestiria has given me nothing to hate. The battle system is fine. The characters are rote and standard but fine. The systems don’t seem totally broken or anything. Guess I’ll keep playing, just not as urgently as I was enraptured with Berseria.
They were nothing but a slog, tedious, a test of patience, made absolutely zero sense, had no rhyme or explanation of what was going on or what you needed to figure out, the worst, most boring droning soundtrack to drive you insane while you go in circles and fight the same enemy for the 7th time, the layous are repetitive and all look the same, and feel like the reason why people would hate dungeons in the first place. Oh my god, Gustwork Ruins can absolutely suck it all down hard. End rant.
Im taking my sweet time with this one, I have times where I take weeks or even one month off from playing. Im getting back into it , halfway through the game.
And here's me expecting a very wholesome fun shenangigans type game. (loving it)
Ever since Final Fantasy 4, I shouldn't trust prologues anymore lmao.
Last time I saw a character pull a full 180 degrees is probably Jak 2 on the ps2. I genuinely thought Velvet got a different VA right after. wow
I need some help choosing which Tales game to start next after finishing Tales of Graces F. I have five options from the Tales games I have not finished yet. Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of Vesperia PS4 D.E. or Tales of Legendia. Here are the current Tales games I have finished, not 100% them, but I did a lot of side quests and activities that took up a huge chunk of my time.
Finished
1.Tales of Berseria
2.Tales of Xillia
Tales of Graces F
Tales of Vesperia(Xbox 360) version
5.Tales of Arise
Tales of Zestria
Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World (Weakest Tales imo)
A part of me always wonders, is Luke’s ignorance his fault? Or was he raised that way? Like is Luke normally ignorant and then went on a character journey to change. Or was he raised to be ignorant by the guidance of others, and then went on a journey to discover his own ideals?
The only people we see in Luke’s life are Van, Natalia and Guy. Luke treats Guy warmly, and Natalia is ruling her own kingdom, the proper way, but is different compared to Luke. Luke idolizes Van and also acts different around him.
There’s also the replacement scenario to think of, where technically in order for that to work, Luke’s body would have to physically match Asch’s. However i don’t think they can manufacture a replica’s mind. So Luke would be mentally a child in an older persons body. So it makes me wonder what is actually the cause of Luke’s ignorance.
So over the past few days I’ve been working pretty hard making my first Eva foam prop and it’s Luke’s Fonic Sword from TotA! I got my Luke cosplay a while back but I can’t wait to showcase this at Momocon!!!
I played Judes perspective first when i was a kid and i enjoyed his fighting style and mechanics, but i couldn’t really remember much of the story besides what you see in the opening. Years later we get a remaster and I play Milas perspective and im left wondering why do people say this is their favorite game? Everyones entitled to their opinion so I wanted to ask this question and maybe see what you see, if this is your favorite game explain to me why it is.
I read that it's possible to play as Richard through the whole game by using this item and basically replacing another character. . But how does this actually work? Does he still level up and learn skills with titles? Does the model for the character get replaced in battle and the overworked? What do I need to know to properly enjoy this, because he's my favorite to play as and I was really disappointed he wasn't available most of the first run.
teasing us for something we need patched!
Has been awnsered I checked everything except the item she was using I'm dumb XD
So I've come across something strange, Pattys artes for some unknown are sealed in battle and before you go but just used a seal bottle I've tried it doesn't let me. But as soon as I'm out of battle it shows her as not having sealed affect and I'm confused because she won't use artes in battle. I'm playing PS4 definitive edition and I don't know if this is a game glitch or what and can't see anything online about it.
Anyone has any idea or help would appreciate 😭
I am level 45 finished second act and my shops are barely level 27. How do I effectively raise their levels? I have been pouring so much money into them and it is getting really expensive to level them up.
Im not trippin right?
Do you think that the upcoming tales of arise edition will have post main story content that wasn’t in the original game, besides the beyond the dawn dlc? Like how the tales of graces f remaster has the lineage storyline which happens after the main story. Also, does anyone know if the tales of berseria remaster has post main story content and if so can I transfer my save data from the original berseria to the remaster?
I need it to get my affection with Kratos as high as possible but I can't seem to find any good ones
