Tales of Cast Discussion Day 48: Presea Combatir

Her name is Actually the same in both languages.

Anyways... i like Presea. I remember one time, In my first playthrough, I got curious so I replaced Lloyd with her, and then I put belt to ass on every enemy in the dungeon... good times. She hasn't left my party since then.

As a character I like her too.

Do you feel comfortable playing these games with a keyboard and a mouse or a controller?

I feel like these games were made to be played with a controller.

This is the controller that I use.

What do you think is the most “fighting game-like” Tales game?

Out of all the Tales games, which one do you guys think has the combat that feels the most like a fighting game?
I’m talking about things like combos, cancels, juggling, movement, air combos, timing, and how much control you have over your character.
I’ve played a few Tales games, but I’m curious which one the community thinks comes closest to feeling like an actual fighting game. Which Tales game would you pick and why?

Should I play Vesperia on Switch 2 or Xbox Series X?

Hello there, I want to play Vesperia again and I only have these two options. Which should be the best? I heard the switch 1 version had worse performance, but apparently it's a lot better on Switch 2? Better than on Series X? I looked for a direct comparison between these two consoles, but didn't find much, sorry if this was already asked on this sub. I'd be very thankful if anyone could offer advice.

I'm presuming the Switch 1 physical version will run on with patches and whatnot on Switch 2 and same for the Xbox One version on Series X.

Need advice on the Zestiria DLC

Hello, I discovered the Tales of games fairly recently, starting with Zestiria.

The story and characters really resonated with me, and I love them; they're definitely my favorite part of the game.

The gameplay, on the other hand... is fun, but sometimes slow, though I managed pretty well until the end. (It took me 65 hours to reach the final boss!)

I finally beat the final boss (with some difficulty), and then I started the DLC at level 80.

Here I am, facing the first boss of the dungeon (the gorgon-like creature and the electric snake; I've forgotten their names). And... phew. I can't beat them. I dodge their attacks, I attack as best I can with my fire-armatysation Rose, while Alisha and Edna get killed right away.

I can't understand this sudden difficulty, especially since I'm currently level 84. It breaks my heart, because I love the game and I'd love to keep playing, but it seems like I'm just not suited to this gameplay, after all...

I prioritized stats over equipment abilities. That was... a mistake, wasn't it? What abilities should I prioritize to have equipment that can withstand pretty much any type of battle? What did I do wrong? (Normal difficulty, for information ! 😭)

I've never had so much trouble with a JRPG.

I almost gave up, even though my heart wants to know what will happens next in this amazing adventure...

Tales of Cast Discussion day 47: Clumsy Assassin.

Also known as Resolute Assassin.

Or Sheena Fujibayashi if you're don't get the joke...

Anyways, Sheena's aight. She's not my favourite character or anything. She adds a lot to the Early game's story though.

Just finished Tales of Arise

I just finished Tales of Arise. It was decent for $10, but so far it’s sitting right at the bottom of my rating for the series.

The characters felt pretty meh to me. Why was the story so intensely focused on the romance? Shionne felt constantly hot-and-cold, Alphen was overly protective to a fault, and honestly, Kisara carried the entire cast on her back.

To give some context on my taste:

Berseria: Played it last year and absolutely loved it. Great cast, darker tone.

Zestiria: Also played last year. It was good, though I’ll admit the gear/crafting system was completely awful.

Eternia & Tales of the World: Played these years ago as a kid. I barely remember Eternia’s story, but I loved it then. For Tales of the World, the story wasn't amazing, but I loved swapping roles and focusing heavily on combat mechanics.

These older games are what made me want to explore the franchise more, but Arise kind of killed my momentum lol.

I want to try another entry to balance out my disappointment with Arise. Given what I liked about Berseria and World/Eternia, which Tales game should I jump into next?

The last Tales game I was waiting on in the mail. I got the Vita remake not long ago, so I didn't need this... but it's so darn pretty 😊

Needle felted Rollo from tales of Xillia 2

starting this week, I finished #needlefelting #rollo from the #jrpg game series #talesofxillia aka the #talesofseries . last week, I finished playing Tales of Xillia on my switch 2 last week and my third tales of series game that I played in general. I just need to wait for tales of xillia 2 to come out as a remaster and get it while it's on sale. I'm currently playing Final Fantasy vii remake on the Nintendo switch 2 and so far, I'm almost done chapter 4.

I found this crossover Yonkoma just now, and think it is extra funny, because Richter is usually so serious in his game 🤣

Tales of Cast Discussion Day 46: Refill Sage

Yes, that is her Japanese name.

Refill is the MVP. Her side story with her mom in that one floating town always pulls on my heart strings. Symphonia is really depressing.

Ranking the most mechanically compelling 3D Tales games

In what order would you rank the most mechanically compelling 3D Tales entries? As in which have the most engaging gameplay mechanics. A lot determines this. Such as how well each stat works during battle. The titles for every party member. Equipment (both general & unique). How fluid combat feels. World traversal. Spells & Arte management. But most of all, how fun it really is. Bonus points for innovation if any. And negative points for being convoluted. Be honest.

Tales of Cast Discussion Day 45: Kratos Aurion

Everyone in universe treats him like he's HIM and its lowkey justified until it isn't and he's suddenly washed. (Yet he's still him somehow.) Weird how that works.

Also, Kratos over Zelos in gameplay.

Sooo... I manage to translate 33 % Tales of the World 2.

So far the introduction has been translated and the text content is coherent, the difficult part is not exceeding the byte limits of each dialog box (64 bits is a bitch). I'll post the results as soon as I can compile the iso again.

I know it's not considered a mainline entry, but it was at one point so I'm counting it 😅 The last game for my collection arrived while I was camping, and anything else I pick up at this point is just gravy 😊

I will share a pic of all of them at some point, but I now have at least one version of every mainline entry in the series.
