Per IMAX Press release ,

In select IMAX with Laser and IMAX 70mm Film locations, these sequences will be presented in the full 1.43:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio.

So , Idk about Dolby tho , because this film , with these colors and gorgeous shots from Linus Sandgren , Dolby Vision will be king , it will be legendary and will be talked about for years .. I mean remember how John Wick 4 looked in Dolby ?

Dolby should at lease still have the transition to 1.90 tho ... But ... Idk , not sure . Tbf , after Odyssey , maybe the " exclusive " aspect ratio wont be strictly for IMAX anymore , only 1.43 , Denis will find a way becus Dolby is his ( second ) favorite format too

Secondly , Im actually thinking of watching this film on a BIG Scope theater tho , a tremendously good sound theater ( Lotte Superplex ) ... bcus most of movie will be in 2.20 most of the time ... So mathematically ... It couuld screen bigger images than IMAX most of the time ... Yes you'll lose out on the ratio transition and the wow factor tho but ...

In the IMAX investor report , the film does have the camera icon , and the trailer says " FILMED FOR IMAX "

Even tho all of the released trailers so far are in 2.39:1 and it looks well-framed already but 1.90 would make the experience even better tho

So I came in , with immense doubts and expectations tbh , bcus I read the Greek mythology since a kid and grew up with it , also Troy ( 2004 ) is my top 4 favs of all time so ...

* Technical - wise :

I came in prepared with ear plugs but didnt need it , the sound is really well mixed tho , Ludwig's score really hit when it matters most

I have heard about the low file size of the DCP for regular IMAX , like Snoopy said, the Xenon 's DCP is only 131GB ... When I watch I dont think anyone can tell the difference bcus u sit so far away ...

The thing here is ... I feel like the colors not the best here in regular IMAX ... Bcus ... Not as deep blacks , the scenes in Cyclops cave and the Trojan war and many more , there are lots of colors , and I think it would look absolutely fantastic in an Onyx LED screen or Dolby Vision . In IMAX ( Laser ) , of course its still good but I feel it could be better . This is one of Nolan's most visually arresting films , so ...

Also , the way Nolan shoots his films , literally like an indie film , intimate and personal , I think you dont even need " the biggest screen possible " for this movie ... Like ... Its a story of a king , father , husband try to return home with his troops , and the last 30 minutes is absolute great . Its so great my heart was pouding agressively .

So theres no need to stress about screen size , 1.43 , 1.90 , ... , I think if u can find a FLAT Onyx screen , it could be a really good choice , bcus it has infinite contrast , deep blacks , rich colors , the best ( not biggest ) visual display out there , also Dolby Vision , and just enjoy the story , bcus the set pieces are good but they just come and go , the core of the movie is still the emotion and drama . Also , bcus IMAX is so big sometimes I cannot grasp all the details happening in the screen and I heard some issue about pulling focus , so if see on a smaller screen but sharp and vivid colors , I think its fantastic ... Bcus the regular IMAX rn , its packed for weeks so ...

* Theater etiquette :

I mean , like ... Im so disappointed bcus ... yes a packed IMAX is fantastic news for the studio fs ... But like , people arriving late with flashlight its so messy there are like dozens so distracting ... And during movie some keep using their phones , literally a couple in front me , keep checking Insta , Facebook stories , web browse , the girl even like leave the phone right in her thigh so she can conveniently check ... Like during the movie I see like 3,4 phone screens on during talking scenes and ffs ... And yeah when I asked she did stop and lessen but , ... I mean this generation and the Tik tok brain man , they are addicted to scrolling , this is the theater not Netflix at home , please dont keep checking phones ...

Thats why I will go Onyx 2nd watch , a empty , no crowded theater to fully enjoy the story again , no more going that IMAX bcus thats where most people gonna go
