Outdoor Projection at 7pm

The sub gets a lot of questions about outdoor projection so I figured I’d share today’s experiment.

3500 lumen Anker Soundcore X1 Pro projector on a 0.8 gain 92” rear projection screen. Even with the EZUp tent with walls on 3 sides the image was still barely watchable until almost 6pm. When I first set it up at like 4pm you could barely see anything even right near the screen. These pics were taken at 7pm and for an outdoor setup are totally acceptable… when watching cartoons. When we put on an actual movie, it still struggled.

Once it’s dark outside, it will look great, but this is for context with outside lighting for y’all.

That’s a lot of lumens, on a small screen, in the shade.

Keep this in mind when asking about “daytime” projection with lower output projectors.

StoutBuckets 48” Rock Grapple not fitting my Bobcat L23

I know my l23 isn’t a skid steer; it’s a small articulating laser but it uses that standard Bob-tach / SSQA.

I’ve tried two different StoutBuckets and neither could attach and allow me to push down the locks.

First one didn’t fit; they sent me a 2nd and same problem. My bobcat oem bucket and Proworks forks work just fine. Anyone else have any issues with them?

With the Stout grapple:

The attachment hooks over the upper Bob-Tach bar correctly.

As I roll the attachment back, it comes very close to seating, but it appears the upper hook bottoms out before the lower portion can rotate in completely.

The Bob-Tach locking pins align with the holes and the tapered tips begin to enter both holes, but the full-diameter portion of the pins cannot pass through because the attachment won’t rotate that last fraction of an inch.

Both sides behave the same way.

I’ve tried:

Mounting with the attachment lifted completely off the pallet.

Applying down pressure while curling back.

Verifying the Bob-Tach pins are fully retracted.

Comparing it to my OEM bucket, which mounts without any issue.

I find it hard to believe that both of the grapples they sent me are out of spec but this is my first machine and it’s possible I’m just being a spaz, but considering my other attachments work without issue. I shared with them my measurements from the first grapple and they said it was 1/4” out of spec.

New AutoModerator Filters for Cheap “Toy Projector” Posts

We have expanded AutoModerator to reduce the overwhelming number of repetitive posts about ultra-low-cost projectors that frequently develop the same failures, image defects, and troubleshooting problems.

These enforcement filters apply to all submissions regardless of flair, including custom-flair and unflaired posts.

Automatically removed

Posts matching the following brand or model names will be automatically removed, and the author will receive a link to our relevant wiki guidance:

  • Alvar
  • AuKing
  • Borsso
  • CiBest
  • Egate
  • Elephas
  • GKLPO
  • GooDee
  • HAPPRUN
  • HOMPOW
  • Jimveo
  • Magcubic
  • ONOAYO
  • TMY
  • Vizony
  • VOPLLS
  • XGODY
  • HY-series model numbers from HY200 through HY599

Common spelling variations using spaces, hyphens, or underscores are included where appropriate. HY-series suffixes such as Max, Pro, Mini, Plus, and Ultra are also covered.

Posts containing high-confidence descriptions of burned, melted, scorched, overheated, fried, or otherwise heat-damaged polarizers, polarisers, LCD panels, or LCD screens may also be automatically removed and directed to the wiki.

These subjects have been covered extensively, and the wiki explains realistic troubleshooting, repair limitations, return considerations, and replacement options.

Held for moderator review

Broader image-defect descriptions will be hidden temporarily and placed in the moderation queue. Examples include:

  • Blob or blotch
  • Burned, melted, scorched, or overheated image defects
  • Colored blobs, patches, spots, stains, marks, or discolored areas
  • Blobs, patches, spots, or stains appearing in the image, picture, projection, or screen
  • Color shifts or discoloration in the projected image

Kickstarter-related submissions will also continue to be held for moderator review.

A post being held does not necessarily mean it violates the rules. It means a moderator will review it before it becomes publicly visible.

The purpose of these filters is not to prevent legitimate projector discussion or shame anyone for their budget. They are intended to reduce repetitive posts about products with well-documented limitations, direct users toward existing resources, and keep the subreddit useful for broader projector advice and discussion.

If you believe your post was removed incorrectly—particularly if it contains original measurements, a detailed repair guide, a teardown, or important safety information—please contact the moderators with a link instead of reposting it under another flair.

We’re giving a few r/projectors members the new XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K to test and keep — honest reviews required

Hey everyone — Brian from ProjectorScreen.com here.

We’re teaming up with XGIMI to get the new XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K into the hands of a small group of r/projectors members before it fully hits the market.

The idea is simple: selected testers receive an Elfin Flip 4K shipped to them at no cost, set it up in their own space, use it like a real person would, and then share an honest review with the community.

This is not a “say nice things and get free stuff” program. We’re specifically looking for people who will give useful feedback; good, bad, or mixed - in a way that helps other buyers understand where this projector makes sense and where it does not.

A few key specs/features:

  • 4K UHD
  • RGB triple laser
  • 1,600 ISO lumens
  • 20,000:1 dynamic contrast
  • 3.4 lb portable design
  • 150° integrated handle/stand
  • VRR / ALLM
  • 1080p/120Hz gaming mode with advertised 1ms input lag
  • Auto-focus, auto-keystone, obstacle avoidance, and wall-color adaptation

We’ll be selecting testers based on projector experience, the setup they plan to test it in, and their ability to write a helpful review. You do not need to be a professional reviewer. In fact, we’d rather get real-world feedback from people using it in normal living rooms, bedrooms, gaming setups, apartments, etc.

Apply here:
https://www.projectorscreen.com/pages/xgimi-elfin-flip-4k-review-program-application

Limited spots, no purchase required. If selected, we’ll contact you by email to confirm details and shipping info.

Happy to answer questions and let us all know that you submitted by saying so here in the comments.

Hisense XR10 Review - ProjectorScreen.com

Our XR10 review is live!

It is a bright, flexible, wide-gamut, Dolby Vision-capable front projector that behaves more like a modern all-purpose display than a traditional theater-only machine. Buyers seeking the deepest possible blacks should still look toward LCoS. Buyers seeking a true UST should buy a true UST. But buyers who want a large, bright, accurate, flexible, gaming-capable front-projection system with unusually complete HDR support should put the XR10 high on the shortlist.

Community testing opportunity: Try the XGIMI Titan Noir Pro and share feedback

Hey everyone,

We’ve partnered with XGIMI to run a small community testing initiative for the new Titan Noir Pro, and wanted to open it up to r/projectors.

We’re looking for a handful of members who’d be interested in borrowing one of our units, testing it in a real setup and sharing honest feedback with the sub.

The goal is to give the community real-world impressions beyond early marketing and spec sheets.

We’re especially interested in people who:

  • Have been positive contributors to this sub
  • Have hands-on projector experience (home theater, ALR screens, calibration, etc.)
  • Can compare against other models they’ve used
  • Are willing to post detailed, honest feedback (good or bad)

Selected testers would be asked to share:

  • Room setup + screen type
  • Brightness / contrast / black levels
  • Motion + gaming performance (if applicable)
  • How it compares to other projectors they’ve used

Important: There is no compensation and there is no expectation of positive feedback; just honest impressions that are useful to the community.

We’ve put together a short form to gauge interest and select a few testers:

https://www.projectorscreen.com/pages/projectorscreen-com-xgimi-titan-noir-review-program

This initiative is being supported by both ProjectorScreen.com and XGIMI.

We also have a dedicated backer page for the Titan Noir Pro Kickstarter that includes our referral link, along with an additional ShadowScape screen offer for qualifying backers found below:

https://www.projectorscreen.com/pages/xgimi-titan-noir-backer-offer

The form will ask whether you’ve already backed (and your backer number if so), mainly so we can understand where people are in the process and whether any related offers apply.

Backing through our link is not required to be considered for testing, but it does help support us in putting together community programs like this and may qualify you for the additional screen offer.

If you fill out the form, or if there is anything specific you’d want testers to evaluate feel free to drop a comment below with your current setup or what you’d want to test, we’ll be keeping an eye on the thread as we review submissions.
