Landlord money exto_rtion
I moved to Nagpur about six months ago for my job. When I rented this room, the rent and other charges were clearly discussed, and I have always paid my rent and other dues on time.
Initially, everything was fine. However, after the first month, the owner started charging an additional ₹200 for water, even though it was not mentioned in our agreement. To avoid any conflict, I accepted the change and continued paying it.
Later, during the 3rd and 4th months, the electricity rate was increased from ₹10 per unit to ₹15 per unit. Although this was also not part of our original agreement, I continued paying the revised amount.
Now, this month, the owner has again increased the electricity rate to ₹17 per unit. This time, I politely refused because these repeated increases are unfair and were never agreed upon. In response, the owner disconnected the electricity supply to my room.
I live alone in Nagpur and don't have anyone here to guide or support me. I'm not sure how to handle this situation or what my rights are. Could some please suggest what I should do next?
